The recent Like a Dragon Direct announcement brings some pleasing news: the forthcoming game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, will not require additional payment to unlock the New Game+ mode.
If you’re wondering why it matters, it’s due to the fact that last year’s release, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, offered New Game+ as part of a DLC instead of including it in the base game like previous Yakuza/Like a Dragon titles. Typically, New Game+ lets players restart the game with all their character advancements and unlocks preserved.
Amongst the franchise’s longtime supporters, Sega’s decision was met with much debate and criticism, as some fans perceived it as a move against consumer interests. However, it seems that the negative response may have instigated a shift towards more favorable changes regarding Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
Absolutely, the New Game+ feature is planned to be included in the game post-release as a free update. It’s a little disappointing that it won’t be available from the start, but we expect it to arrive sooner rather than later.
