Lil Wayne isn’t down, down, down, down, down to take the stage at the Super Bowl.
After several months had passed since “Mirror” rapper voiced his displeasure about Kendrick Lamar being the halftime performer for the Big Game in his hometown of New Orleans, Lil Wayne shared whether he might take on that sought-after role in the future.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, published on April 17th, he stated, “They appropriated that emotion of mine.” He clarified, “I didn’t wish for this to happen. It was authentic and flawless.
Actually, he confessed that he hadn’t caught Kendrick’s show, even though he was at the Caesars Superdome. He put it this way: “Whenever I glanced over,” he said, “it didn’t seem to be anything that sparked my curiosity enough to make me go inside and find out what was happening.
According to Lil Wayne, prior to the announcement of the Super Bowl halftime performer, he was suggested by the NFL to attend more high-profile events, which made him believe that he was a strong contender for the performance.
As an ardent fan, let me share my insights: It’s a blend of instructions, both do’s and don’ts, people to connect with and those to avoid – somewhat like navigating a social minefield. For instance, I found myself in situations I’ve never experienced before, such as attending Michael Rubin’s exclusive all-white parties. Recently, I even got involved with the legendary Tom Brady. It’s been quite an extraordinary journey!
He went on to say, “You’ve never found me at places like those,” implying, “I’m not Drake. I don’t flash a smile all over the place. Instead, you can find me in the studio, smoking and recording.
He also claimed that following Kendrick’s announcement, someone within the league apologized to him, stating that they didn’t control the halftime show. Lil Wayne continued by saying, “Apparently, they were turned down.
Regarding who is in control? After the rapper expressed his thoughts about the news on Instagram Live in September, Jesse Collins, the executive producer of halftime, stated that Jay-Z has been making the decisions since 2019.
According to Jesse, it was Jay who made the choice each year, and he found it extraordinary because Jay always chose correctly!
He underscored his affection for Wayne. “Every time there’s a performance, there are odds in Vegas on who will take the stage. But I believe our collaboration with Kendrick is going to be exceptional, and I’m certain that everyone will enjoy the spectacular halftime show.

Back in September, when I first shared my feelings of disillusionment, I acknowledged that I should have braced myself for the inevitable disappointment.
He went on during the Instagram Live, saying, “I believed no place in my town could compare to that spot, that stage, that platform. But when it was taken away, it really hurt – it hurt deeply.
He expressed to his followers that he regretted not seizing the chance they were rooting for him to get, saying, “I feel like I disappointed everyone.” However, he continued, “I’m focusing on my personal growth and progress right now, so thank you for your support.

Back in September, when Lil Wayne initially spoke about his feelings, he confessed that he ought to have psychologically braced himself for a disappointment.
To think I’d found no greater place than that special corner of our town, that magical stage, or that beloved platform, was an understatement. But when they were taken away, the pain was immense, truly heart-wrenching.
He expressed to his followers that he regretted missing the chance, but assured them he was focusing on self-improvement and making progress. He also expressed gratitude.
