The initial trailer for the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch has been unveiled, with viewers overall expressing enthusiasm, but there is a specific character that fans are voicing apprehensions about.
The preview hints that the upcoming movie will adhere tightly to its source, depicting Stitch escaping to Earth and being taken in by a dog shelter run by Lilo.
After that, he proceeds to create chaos while the pair grows closer, yet he remains a target for pursuit not just from Earth dwellers, but also extraterrestrial ones.
Audience members tend to find Stitch appealing in the movie, labeling the CGI character as “cute.” On the other hand, they express uncertainty about Pleakley’s appearance, an alien sent to catch Stitch. Some have described Pleakley as “frightening,” “bizarre,” and “terrifying.
One user on Twitter (now known as X) posted: “Hold up, what did they do to Pleakley? He looks absolutely terrifying!
Another added: “Stitch still cute, but Pleakley? Terrifying.”
A viewer additionally expressed some confusion as to why Jumba and Pleakly were wearing human costumes, since these characters appeared to transform into their actors, Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifianakis. Nevertheless, they still found the movie to be “spectacular”.
A different individual commented: “Jumba wasn’t featured, but Pleakley appeared quite peculiar in the brief glimpse of him as an alien. It seems understandable that we won’t see them portrayed as aliens throughout the entire film, especially considering this is a method to limit the number of CGI characters on screen simultaneously.
One enthusiast expressed being genuinely taken aback by its quality and the animation’s striking impact, while another admitted to having low expectations but found it to be quite promising.
In the latest movie, Maia Kealoha takes on the role of Lilo, with Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B Vance, and Galifianakis appearing alongside her.
Returning to the microphone once more, I found myself reprising my role as Stitch in this latest installment. You may recall that I was part of the original 2002 animated movie’s cast, not to mention a co-writer and director. So, it was an exciting opportunity for me to step back into the world of everyone’s favorite blue extraterrestrial.
