Lindsay Dewey Shares Heartbreaking First Mother’s Day After Toddler Son’s Tragic Death

Lindsay Dewey is remembering her baby boy.

60 days following the influencer’s announcement about the unfortunate passing of her 22-month-old son, Reed Dewey, who was Eric Dewey’s child, she contemplated how her initial Mother’s Day would be spent in his absence.

Lindsay penned on her May 12 Instagram post: “It took time to create this moment, but it was worth the wait – holding Reed close. I never imagined I’d have to replicate a photo just to hold my baby again. The longing for that embrace is unbearable. A part of me is forever incomplete.

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old mother, who is also mom to Reegan (6) and Tucker (4), acknowledged that celebrating the holiday without her youngest son was difficult. Yet, she expressed gratitude for being able to be present for her other two children. In fact, they are creating special moments together, as Lindsay also posted a touching picture of them clutching a pillow bearing Reed’s likeness.

She went on to say, “For me, my three infants have always been a source of immense joy and my heart’s deepest desire since I was just a tiny child myself. It’s an incredibly precious experience and privilege for me to nurture these little ones. This responsibility is one that I will never undervalue or overlook. A bustling house filled with babies and the ensuing chaos is, without a doubt, a feeling of pure bliss.

Afterward, Lindsay concluded her post with a heartfelt acknowledgement of her fellow mothers, extending appreciation even to those who have endured the loss of their children.

To those experiencing a sense of emptiness, searching for a missing part, and grappling with the sorrow that accompanies it, let me assure you: You’re never truly alone in this journey, and I commend your strength.

When Lindsay isn’t sharing insights about her motherhood experiences, she is raising awareness for Reed following his tragic accident in February. A month after his passing, she detailed that the toddler was attempting to remove a suction cup bowl from their “heavy duty” mirror when it accidentally fell on him.

Lindsay posted on her Instagram Stories on March 10th: “He was lying there with open eyes, not crying, which made me feel a bit relieved, thinking he must have been alright. But it turned out, he wasn’t the Reed I knew. His behavior immediately told me something was extremely wrong, and it was serious. However, we never imagined it would be so severe that he wouldn’t make it through.

In the end, Reed sustained a skull fracture and a critical traumatic brain injury, which caused him to fall into a coma. Despite receiving medical attention, his doctors concluded that he had no brain activity left, essentially declaring him brain-dead.

The mother, who has three children, expressed her disbelief and shock as she stated, ‘This is unimaginable, it’s taken our precious baby.’ She went on to share their experience, hoping that doing so would prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
