In addition to James and Clarke, the ensemble for the series is rounded out by several other recognizable actors such as Ariyon Bakare (from His Dark Materials), Tamara Lawrance (Time), Sharlene Whyte (Small Axe), and Tahj Miles (Death in Paradise).
All of those stars can be seen in the new images, with James front and centre as the show’s exuberant protagonist Barrington ‘Barry’ Jedidiah Walker – who is described as a “seventy-four year old, Antiguan born, exuberant Hackney personality, renowned for his dapper taste and fondness for retro suits”.
In this storyline, Clarke plays Carmel, Barry’s wife of five decades, who intuits that he may have been unfaithful to her with other women. Meanwhile, Bakare portrays Morris De La Roux, Barry’s closest friend and confidant, with whom Barry has been secretly involved in a passionate relationship.
In this setup, Lawrence and Whyte are cast as Maxine and Donna, daughters of Barry and Carmel, with Miles portraying their son, Daniel.
Additionally, the series features Suzette Llewellyn from EastEnders, Lochlann Ó Mearáin known for Joyride, Hopi Grace recognized from Boiling Point, Llewella Gideon of Top Boy, Doreene Blackstock famous for Sex Education, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith starring in The Split, Juliet Garricks of Murder They Hope, and Clint Dyer who appeared in Mine, all taking on supporting roles.
