Lisa Curry shares heartbreaking birthday tribute to late daughter Jaimi – almost five years after her tragic death

On what should have been her 38th birthday, Lisa Curry honored her deceased daughter, Jaimi, with a heartfelt and loving tribute.

In September 2020, Lisa’s oldest child, Jaimi, who was formerly married to Grant Kenny, passed away after a lengthy struggle of 18 years against alcohol addiction and anorexia.

63-year-old ex-Olympian recently posted a heartwarming collection of photos on Instagram featuring himself, Lisa, Jaimi, Jett, and Morgan.

Additionally, she posted pictures depicting her seated in shallow water, with a mini Sonny Angel figurine in her hands.

Lisa appeared to be clutching the figurine firmly and bestowing a soft kiss on it, hinting at its emotional significance to her child.

Lisa shared that the day she gave birth to Jaimi stands as the most memorable and fulfilling day in her entire life, which she’s spending this time in Italy with her partner Mark Tabone.

‘On your birthday, dear Jaimi, we can’t help but remember you every day. You’re a constant topic of conversation among us.’ She expressed this sentiment in her touching tribute.

‘The best day of my life 38 years ago when I became a mummy for the first time.’

In her emotionally charged update, Lisa shared that she dispersed some of Jaimi’s remains over the water, and it was reported that one of Jaimi’s friends did the same in France.

She’s here with me in Italy, joined me for a swim, and afterward, my friend Georgie and I scattered ashes in the stunning waters of Sardinia,” she explained.

‘She’s also in France today in the lavender fields with her friend Millie.

Today, each member of our family is honoring her memory with personal tributes. She will always be cherished. Eternally youthful and radiant, she now finds tranquility.

Lisa’s post was met with an outpouring of support from friends and followers.

One supporter commented, “She’d be so proud to see you continuing to support others, offering your compassion and kindness with the hope of healing them.

Another person expressed a similar feeling: “You have my heart and mind. I fully understand the pain of losing someone to such a cruel disease, for it has claimed your beautiful daughter.” This conveys the same sympathy and understanding.

After Lisa disclosed that she was going through a recovery process following the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Jaimi.

Last January, Lisa mentioned that it had taken her about three and a half years to return to the gym, following periods of sorrow and mourning.

Due to her hip replacement surgery from last year, she’s been attending these latest training sessions to aid her recovery process.

Lisa injured herself in 2023 while husky dog sledding in Yukon, Canada.

She slipped on the ice, which caused her to fall and break her hip. 

The athlete has openly shared that she has quit drinking alcohol permanently, following a frightening health incident during her vacation in Fiji.

Last month, she openly and intimately revealed an update on Instagram, uploading a picture showing her resting in a hospital bed in Queensland, visibly exhausted.

Lisa described her brief hospital stay as an “overnight visit” in her post’s caption, then led her audience through a moving account of her prolonged struggle with severe heart problems and her ultimate choice to permanently abstain from alcohol.

Jaimi died in September 2020 following an 18-year battle with alcohol addiction and anorexia.

Lisa and Grant Kenny got married in 1984, split up in 2009, and throughout their union they had three children: their eldest son Jett, now 31 years old, followed by Morgan, aged 34, and the youngest daughter Jaimi.
