Lisa Marie Presley Shares She Had Abortion While Dating Danny Keough

As a dedicated fan, I find myself deeply moved by Lisa Marie Presley‘s powerful and poignant journey through life, as beautifully portrayed in her posthumous memoir. Her experiences with pregnancy, loss, and love are a testament to her resilience and strength.

Before her passing, Lisa Marie Presley opened up about her most difficult memories.

In the memoir titled “From Here to the Great Unknown,” which was finished by her daughter Riley Keough following her passing, Lisa Marie Presley (Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s daughter) opened up about her pregnancies with Danny Keough, whom she was married to between 1988 and 1994.

In her memoir, Lisa Marie expressed that she was unaware she was pregnant the first time, as she hadn’t realized it until the first four months of dating. During this period, she unexpectedly found herself in the emergency room due to severe pain, and ultimately required immediate surgery.

Initially, the medical professionals believed that the “Shine” singer had an appendix problem, but following the operation, they revealed that it wasn’t an appendix issue at all; instead, it was an ectopic pregnancy – a condition where a fertilized egg implants somewhere outside of the uterus.

She reminisced that she’d never conceived with anyone else before, which was surprising since she hadn’t used birth control consistently. However, it was with Danny that I became pregnant for the first time, and later on, when we reconciled, it happened again.

As per Lisa Marie, who tragically passed away in January 2023 at the age of 54 due to complications from bariatric surgery that led to a small bowel obstruction, it was unclear for her and Danny what the next steps were when she became pregnant for the second time.

“I ended up having an abortion,” she wrote. “And it was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my whole life. I was devastated.”

Following the process, she remembered that both she and Danny wept, indicating they “were both devastated, and shortly thereafter our relationship crumbled and ended. I could no longer bear it.

Shortly after, Danny joined a band on a cruise ship, while Lisa Marie traveled around Europe.

As I reflected on it later, I couldn’t help but feel disbelief – I had gone through an abortion, something I couldn’t accept. In retrospect, I was deeply saddened by my own actions.

At this point, she started devising a strategy, putting it down as, “I concocted and orchestrated. I identified the precise moment of my fertility.

I, being a devoted admirer, paid a visit to Danny. We shared an evening together, a moment we kept private as I harbored secret aspirations of starting a family.

She clarified, “I no longer worried about his opinion on the matter. Whether he wanted to participate or not was irrelevant to me. I felt compelled to make amends because I couldn’t accept that I had an abortion. In my mind, I thought, ‘I will have this child. There is a child I need to bring into existence.’

In a touching recollection, the singer who is known for “Lights Out,” shared she had conversations with her lost child, expressing remorse and asking, “‘I’m deeply sorry, I can hardly believe I did something so terrible. Please find it in your heart to forgive me and stay by my side until I conceive again.’

Two weeks following her visit with Danny, Lisa Marie discovered she was pregnant, and they got married shortly thereafter.

“Danny knew he had to marry me,” she said. “I trapped him. I didn’t really mean to, but I did.”

In May 1989, the pair introduced Riley into their family, followed by Benjamin Keough in October 1992. Two years post their separation, she remarried – first Michael Jackson, then Nicolas Cage, and later Michael Lockwood. With the latter, she became a mother to 15-year-old twins named Harper and Finley Lockwood.

Tragically, Riley’s son, Benjamin, took his life in 2020 when he was just 27 years old. This heartbreaking incident is believed by Riley to have played a role in her own passing.

In an interview with People in September, she shared that my mother exerted every effort to find resilience for me and our younger sisters following Ben’s passing. However, we were acutely aware of the deep suffering she endured. She may have passed away from the complications of her surgery, but it was clear that she succumbed to a broken heart.
