As a digital creator who spends countless hours behind the screen, the Logitech MX Creative Console has piqued my interest. Having been through numerous accessories in search of that perfect companion for my creative apps, I’m thrilled to see Logitech entering this space. The customization possibilities offered by the Tactile Keydial and Customizable Keypad are nothing short of exciting.

Today, Logitech unveiled a new tool for digital artists: The MX Creative Console, consisting of a Tactile Keydial and a Customizable Keypad. This setup is designed specifically for creative applications. It’s compatible with both Windows and Mac systems, thanks to the free Logi Options+ software. Moreover, Logitech has partnered with Adobe to develop plugins for their renowned programs. In simpler terms, this accessory integrates seamlessly with Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Illustrator.

Additionally, plugins are available for Spotify Premium, Zoom, Ableton Live, Philips Hue, vMix (Windows version only), Capture One Pro (for Mac users exclusively), among others.

The Customizable Keypad offers nine full-color LCD display keys that can reach up to 600 nits of brightness and can be lowered with adjustable brightness settings. These buttons can be customized to quickly open different programs or swap to different tools (brush, quick select, lasso, spot healing brush, etc). There are also two page buttons (back and forth) that allow the device to move between 15 different pages of actions per app, providing users with ample button controls. It connects to PCs with a detachable 1.5m USB-C 2.0 cable.

Simultaneously, the Tactile Keydial showcases an “aluminum dial with finely tuned grip” and a “sophisticated roller for smooth navigation.” This makes it ideal for effortlessly zooming in and out on tasks or picking various options from the Actions Ring adjustment wheel. The Keydial boasts four programmable buttons, one near each corner of its square base, which can be utilized for frequent actions like undo and redo. It’s capable of connecting to and switching between as many as three devices at once with a single press of a button. Powered by two AAA batteries, Logitech claims the battery life can last up to 18 months. The Keydial connects to your computer via Bluetooth Low-Energy or Logi Bolt, but unfortunately, the dongle for the latter isn’t included. It appears the Keydial can be positioned flat or propped up with an included stand.

Regarding the MX Creative Console, Anatoliy Polyanker, general manager of the MX Business Unit at Logitech, stated that it is designed to empower individuals to rethink their work processes, allowing them to work more efficiently and effectively. By focusing on essential trends such as simplifying digital creation, 3D design, spatial computing, and intelligent workflows powered by AI, we are aiming to make these advanced technologies accessible to a wider audience.

The Logitech MX Creative Console is set to be shipped out on October 14, 2024, in both Pale Grey and Graphite colors. You can now place your preorders, with the Creative Console being priced at $199.99 on the Logitech website and various retailers.

Customization is key for this keypad and keydial combo

Among numerous other dial and keypad accessories designed for creative applications, two stand out: The XPPen Mini Keydial ACK05, available at Amazon with a competitive price point of $49.99, and the Huion Keydial Mini K20 priced at $54.99 on Amazon. You can find more details about the second option in my review of the Huion Kamvas Pro 19 as well as the Huion Kamvas Pro 24 (4K).

On the Logitech MX Creative Console’s Keydial, you’ll find a full-color, fully customizable LCD display keys that offer a multitude of options and controls, much more than what other less expensive creative editing accessories provide. In essence, it functions similarly to an Elgato Stream Deck (for additional details, check out our Stream Deck review). Each program can have up to 15 pages of controls on this console, with nine buttons per page. This means you’ll have a total of 135 customizable controls at your fingertips, making it incredibly convenient for those who frequently use these applications.

I’m torn between liking the fact that the keydial and keypad are separate devices and thinking they’d be better as one device. On one hand, this two-part design would allow me to use the keydial with my left hand and the keypad with my right hand, which feels very natural to me. However, that means I would need to make sure there’s enough room for both devices wherever I put them rather than just clearing one space. Traveling with these devices also means I’d need to carefully pack two devices rather than one.
