In the upcoming months, Marvel’s trickster deity, Loki, also known as the God of Mischief, is making an appearance in the Ultimate Universe. This universe, which has been reintroducing iconic heroes and villains by Marvel since its inception, currently stars The Ultimates. Over time, Iron Lad (Tony Stark) has been gathering a group of heroes to take down The Maker and his corrupt council. We are now in the second year of the Ultimate Universe, and the coming months will see Loki’s entrance, as he returns to his malevolent ways during the War for Asgard. Throughout his career, Thor’s brother has frequently switched between heroic and villainous roles, but his debut in the Ultimate Universe is expected to find him once again embracing his villainous side.
In my latest review as a Marvel enthusiast, I’m excited to share the upcoming adventure in April’s issue #11 of ‘Ultimates’, penned by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri. The captivating cover art by Dike Ruan showcases Loki standing menacingly over Thor and Lady Sif, casting a chilling gaze. The solicitation teases, “Get ready for ‘THE WAR FOR ASGARD!’ A new hero is about to rise! It’s time to knock down another of the Maker’s dominoes – ousting Loki from his throne in Asgard! Thor, Sif, and She-Hulk embark on a thrilling quest filled with blood, glory, and rebellion. Along their journey, they stumble upon an unexpected ally!” Can’t wait to see how this unfolds!
It seems like Loki is being manipulated by the Maker, as this villainous Reed Richards divided the world into separate domains under the control of his council members. It’s plausible that Asgard was bestowed upon Loki to rule as he pleases. However, the Ultimates have decided it’s high time to bring down Loki, with Thor, Sif, and She-Hulk being dispatched for this crucial mission. Moreover, there’s a hint of a new hero joining the ranks in the Ultimates. So far, the team has recruited Wasp, Giant-Man, America Chavez, a fresh Hawkeye, and it appears Luke Cage and Namor will soon join. Additionally, we’ve encountered the Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy.
Marvel reveals new Ultimate Universe details
In my humble opinion as a film critic, there’s a whole lot more brewing within the expansive Ultimate Universe than what we’ve been seeing in the ‘Ultimates’ series. The latest issue #15 of ‘Ultimate Black Panther’ heralds a fresh storyline where our hero, T’Challa, must return to his roots and revert to basic skills to face off against new adversaries who have twisted vibranium and its ominous counterpart against him. The striking cover by Stefano Caselli portrays an updated Black Panther suit that appears devoid of the precious metal, vibranium, and exposes T’Challa’s lower half through a masked visage.
In issue #16 of “Ultimate Spider-Man”, the veil is lifted from Mysterio, hinting at the unveiling of his backstory. “Even Kingpin himself knows little about the criminal in the smoky helmet…but Spider-Man is about to discover more than he ever anticipated!
In issue 4 of “Ultimate Wolverine”, Logan finds himself at odds with members of Maker’s council – Colossus, Magik, and Omega Red – following a clash with Kitty Pryde and Gambit. This altercation leaves him confused, aggressive, and yearning for explanations. Meanwhile, in issue 14 of “Ultimate X-Men”, the Shadow King makes his return, exhibiting an unprecedented level of power.
