LoL patch 14.15 rundown

As a seasoned League of Legends (LoL) player with over 10 years of gaming experience under my belt, I must say that patch 14.15 is quite an interesting one. It seems Riot Games decided to shake things up a bit by focusing more on item and rune changes rather than champion adjustments this time around.

LoL patch 14.15 champion changes

LoL patch 14.15 brings changes to only four champions this patch. They are:

  • Shyvana: Her E damage has higher base value and better AD scaling, but worse AP scaling
  • Talon: Talon’s Q now always dashes, even at melee range
  • Varus: His base AD is higher and his passive attack speed is higher. His W on-hit damage is lower.
  • Yasuo: Yasuo’s base armor and E damage is higher.

Similarly, the nerf list is only four champions:

  • Aurelion Sol: The mana cost on his Q and E are larger, while his W now has a fixed distance instead of increasing with ranks
  • Aurora: Aurora’s passive and E grants less movement speed, and her W has a longer cooldown. Her R does less damage. However, her Q now has a shorter cooldown on its recast.
  • Ezreal: Ezreal Q has worse AD scaling
  • Leona: Leona’s passive and W damage is lower

Adjustments come to a larger number of champions:

  • Akali: Akali’s W now has lower cooldown at higher ranks. Her R deals more damage, but has a longer cooldown at early ranks.
  • Cassiopeia: Cassio has higher base mana but less mana growth. Her Q, W and E cost less mana. However, her Q and E has worse AP scaling
  • Irelia: Irelia has higher base health but worse health regeneration
  • Skarner: Skarner’s base health growth is higher, and his Q costs less mana. His E no longer grabs targets behind him.
  • Sylas: Sylas has higher base armor and his Q has a shorter cooldown. However, Sylas Q explosion damage and his E damage is lower. Finally, his W does less damage and its healing ratio has less AP scaling and a new Bonus Health scaling.
  • Yone: Yone’s Q damage is higher, but his R has a longer cooldown at higher ranks
  • Zed: Zed’s Q has higher damage at higher ranks, but worse AD scaling. His R has longer cooldowns at higher ranks.

For non-balance changes, the following new skins are available:

  • Battle Bear Illaoi
  • Battle Lion Leona
  • Battle Wolf Yasuo
  • Primordial Aatrox
  • Primordial Briar

Item and rune changes

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that updates have tweaked the main emphasis of certain game items. This has resulted in adjustments (nerfs) for Boots and Marksman gear, making them less effective. On the flip side, AP (Ability Power) items are receiving benefits, giving them an edge. Additionally, some defensive items are being rebalanced to maintain a fair playing field.

  • Death’s Dance now gives more armor
  • Kraken Slayer gives less movement speed and its Bring It Down passive has 80% effectiveness for ranged champions
  • Lord Dominik’s Regards gives less armor penetration
  • Mortal Reminder gives less attack damage
  • Statikk Shiv gives less movement speed and is 100 gold pricier
  • Stormsurge gives more movement speed on its passive proc, and its Squall has an improved damage modifier for ranged users
  • Cosmic Drive gives more health and higher movement speed on its passive at early levels
  • Hextech Rocketbelt gives more health
  • Void Staff gives more AP
  • Null Magic Mantle is cheaper but gives less MR. Items that build out of it have their total costs and MR values unchanged
  • Wit’s End has higher damage at early levels
  • Abyssal Mask is more expensive, but it shreds more MR and has a higher range on its shred

For the Boots items, the changes are:

  • Mercury’s Treads is more expensive and gives less magic resist
  • Berserker’s Greaves gives less attack speed
  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity is more expensive and gives less Summoner Haste
  • Plated Steelcaps is more expensive and gives Plating passive %
  • Sorcerer’s Shoes grants less magic penetration
  • Boots of Swiftness is more expensive

Finally, for Rune changes:

  • Dark Harvest has a shorter cooldown, and its reset timer on takedown is shorter
  • Fleet Footwork heals less at early levels but grants more healing at higher levels
