LoL patch 14.17 rundown

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of League of Legends under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation as I delve into the intricacies of patch 14.17. The adjustments to matchmaking queues and restrictions are a welcome sight, especially the efforts to bring parity between blue side, red side, and off-role players. However, the continued push to keep marksmen out of solo lanes is a contentious issue that has been debated ad nauseam within the community.

In my gaming world, I’ve noticed some major changes with League of Legends patch 14.17. They’ve beefed up the matchmaking queues and tightened restrictions for a more balanced gameplay experience. Plus, they’re really pushing to keep marksmen out of solo lanes, so it’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out!

1. The focus is shifting towards ensuring fairness among players on both the blue team and the red team, as well as those filling in roles or playing off-role. Additionally, leavers are now being appropriately penalized following the resolution of a technical issue by our development team.

Additionally, they implement penalties for those who consistently decline the ready check, aimed at combating queue/stream sniping. Furthermore, players under a ranked restriction must secure three wins in quickplay or Draft Pick modes first, before they can access ranked games again.

Ultimately, the Infernal Cinders on the Infernal Drake Map will appear fewer times (approximately 2-3 times every 20 seconds, as opposed to 14). However, they will grant more Cinder Haste per stack (up to 1 from 0.6).

Item, runes and other changes

In the meantime, over at the items section, the price of Warmog’s Heart has been increased to 3300 gold (previously 3100), and its movement speed bonus has been reduced to 5% from the original 10%. Similarly, Celestial Opposition has received some nerfs; its slow effect is now 50% for 1.5 seconds, down from a previous 60% over 2 seconds.

Patch 14.17 brings nerfs to the following LoL runes as well:

  • Absorb Life is too common and useful throughout the game. It now gives less healing at early levels, while retaining similar healing at high levels
  • Cut Life: Cut Life loses its patch 14.11 buffs as its now stronger and more popular. Its damage threshold is now above 60% again, instead of 50%
  • Fleet Footwork: This rune receives nerfs to tamp down on the safety it grants in lane. It now gives 15% movement speed for 1 second (down from 20% for 1.25 seconds). However, it now gives slightly more healing in the late game (5-120 based on level instead of 5-100)

There’s also a swathe of bug fixes, QoL changes, and ARAM and Arena balance tweaks.

Finally, the following skins enter the game:

  • Battle Queen Miss Fortune
  • Battle Queen Gwen
  • Battle Queen Fiora
  • Battle Queen Annie
  • Divine God-King Darius & Fallen God-King Garen
