As a longtime wrestling enthusiast who’s seen more smackdowns than I can count, I must say that the upcoming CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins match for WWE Raw’s Netflix premiere has me more pumped than a steroid-filled sumo wrestler.
CM Punk’s next match has been made official for WWE Raw‘s Netflix premiere.
Ever since Punk came back to WWE in November, he’s been a subject of interest among many of his peers. One such individual was Drew McIntyre, who had a long-standing feud with Punk that ended in October. Now that McIntyre is out of the picture (temporarily), Punk’s next adversary seems to be biding their time. After taking a break from wrestling to focus on other ventures, Punk made his comeback at Survivor Series, partnering with Roman Reigns.
From the very start, Seth Rollins has openly expressed his contempt towards the previous WWE Champion and continually challenged Punk. After several months of build-up, the long-awaited confrontation between these two is set for January 6th, marking the Netflix premiere of WWE Raw. However, it’s difficult to believe that this highly anticipated rivalry will be resolved in just a single match.
CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins Official for WWE Raw Netflix Premiere
Back in April, it was announced that Punk’s initial scheme for WrestleMania 40 was set to be a match with Rollins. Unfortunately, an injury sustained during the Royal Rumble event disrupted those arrangements.
… It seemed like the plan involved Seth and me, and Punk then confirmed that the match was indeed for the World Heavyweight Championship. “I assume so,” Punk added, explaining that he didn’t have any questions about it. Punk also pointed out that he was satisfied with the storyline, as there’s a history and a narrative between us.
Apart from Punk versus Rollins, there’s another significant match scheduled for the grand event: Roman Reigns will square off against Solo Sikoa in a tribal battle, aiming to defeat the newly appointed Bloodline leader definitively. Furthermore, Rhea Ripley had a face-off with Liv Morgan post her title victory over IYO SKY.
Ripley got straight to the point, stating that their dispute had lasted too long and she aimed to put an end to it by reclaiming the title. Although WWE hasn’t announced a date for the match yet, it seems like the type of high-profile bout they would want featured on their Netflix debut.
Confirmed guests at this event include the undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, along with Bianca Belair and John Cena, who will make special appearances. It has also been announced that Travis Scott, whose music is the theme for WWE Raw, will be in attendance, as confirmed by Triple H.
