As a seasoned moviegoer who’s been following the Scream franchise since its inception, I must say, I’m thrilled to see the return of the original cast and the inclusion of some fresh faces for Scream 7!
The Scream series, which experienced a reboot with its fifth installment and has amassed over $900 million globally, initially planned to shoot a new movie. However, following Melissa Barrera’s dismissal due to controversial remarks about the Israel-Palestine conflict, and Jenny Ortega’s departure due to scheduling issues at the proposed shooting time, production has now resumed. Guess who’s joining the cast for Scream 7!
Kevin Williamson, creator of the “Scream” franchise and writer of the original Wes Craven movie, will be taking on directing duties for a new film written by Guy Busick. The specifics of the plot are being kept secret, but given the nature of the series, it’s likely that a masked character will play a significant role. This will mark Williamson’s first time directing a film in the franchise since he initiated the series in the 1990’s, with horror legend Wes Craven directing the first four films.
Following the resolution of her salary disagreement, actress Neve Campbell is set to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott, the renowned “Scream” protagonist. Additionally, Mason Gooding is coming back to portray Chad Meeks-Martin, another Ghostface survivor. The newcomer, Isabel May, will portray Sidney’s daughter, while Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp have joined the cast in unspecified roles for the upcoming film.
However, it’s now confirmed that Courtney Cox is set to reappear in Scream 7, resuming her role as Gale Weathers, a tenacious news reporter-turned-author who frequently finds herself in the thick of the Ghostface killings. After lengthy discussions, she has agreed to return to the cast.
Scream 7 is set to hit cinemas worldwide on 27th February 2026.
