CI Games, the publisher, has disclosed that the development of a sequel to “Lords of the Fallen” is underway, and this upcoming game will present a narrative more influenced by Western cultures compared to its predecessor. In a recent meeting with investors, CI Games marketing director Ryan Hill discussed how the next installment, known as Project 3 at present, will take into account player feedback, not just in terms of gameplay mechanics but also in shaping the storyline itself.
According to Hill, “Project 3” is designed to tackle all significant player feedback from the 2023 release of “Lords of the Fallen,” while further enhancing the elements that players appreciated the most. The project will adopt a strategy of quality over quantity, aiming to attract a broader audience with enhanced onboarding processes, a more inviting aesthetic, and storytelling rooted in the west.
It’s not entirely clear what Hill is implying when he uses the term “westernized” in relation to the storytelling of the sequel, but it seems likely that he’s comparing it to FromSoftware’s games which often employ less conventional narrative methods such as heavy reading, deciphering item descriptions, and interpreting peculiar NPC dialogue. It could be that Hill is suggesting that the Lords of the Fallen sequel may opt for a more straightforward storytelling approach through the use of clearer cutscenes.
In the same Q&A session, CI Games shared their commitment to providing ongoing post-release support for the game “Lords of the Fallen.” This dedication extends beyond fixing bugs and making updates; they also intend to roll out new content throughout 2025. At present, the game is on version 1.7, and CI Games aims to continue supporting it until it reaches version 2.0.
According to Hill’s statement, the game’s continuous positive response following multiple updates since its release played a significant role in its success. Given that the players have responded favorably to these ongoing updates, the company intends to continue providing support for the game.
Back in the year 2023, I stepped into a gaming world that was none other than Lords of the Fallen. This epic adventure, initially launched then, received both critical acclaim and commercial success. In fact, it sold over a million copies within the first month itself! And here’s the best part – thanks to the dedicated efforts of its developers, sales have only been climbing higher ever since.
