This year, developer HexWorks, under the supervision of Publisher CI Games, plans to release new updates for the game “Lords of the Fallen,” eventually bringing it up to version 2.0. To clarify, the game is currently at version 1.7.
During a meeting with investors, Tom O’Connor, CI Games’ senior vice president of development, expressed their strategy: they aim to boost sales for the game Lords of the Fallen by implementing substantial updates and addressing player suggestions.
As a game enthusiast, I’d say, “In response to your question about our future strategies, here’s what I can share about CI Games for 2025: We aim to keep boosting the sales of Lords of the Fallen 2023 by implementing strategic discounts and consistently rolling out significant updates, all the way up to version 2.0. These updates are based on player feedback and findings from external user testing.”
Apart from discussing their ongoing projects, O’Connor mentioned two more CI Games ventures. One is codenamed Project 3, a sequel to the game Lords of the Fallen, and another is tentatively named Project H, which is still in its early stages of development.
Regarding our ongoing projects, Production is complete for Project 3, which is part of the Lords of the Fallen series. This year, we’ll be extensively testing it with players to ensure its quality and maximize its potential. Meanwhile, SGW Evolved and Project H are still in the early stages, but we’re getting closer to our vision for these projects. More details about them will be shared at a later time.
When inquired about the possibility of additional free content for Lords of the Fallen, Marketing Director Ryan Hill indicated that the company has observed an increase in positive feedback regarding the game, attributable to the rollout of complimentary updates and downloadable content over the past few years. This suggests that they will carry on with this approach in the future.
According to Hill, we’ve been consistently providing updates and new content for the game “Lords of the Fallen” since its launch, and the impact of these actions can be seen clearly – the Steam User Score has been steadily climbing throughout 2024, peaking at an impressive 80 (very positive) in December.
In addition, we monitor online opinions using Player XP’s audience sentiment tool, showcasing a significant surge in positive feelings towards the LOTF series within the digital gaming community throughout 2024. Given this trend, we will carry forward our strategy into 2025, with an impressive content plan set for Q1 that includes the launches of versions 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0. These updates are designed to enhance LOTF substantially, incorporating suggestions from our community and external player testing. It’s crucial that we maintain this positive momentum leading up to Project 3’s debut.
In October 2023, the game titled Lords of the Fallen, not to be mixed up with the 2014 version bearing the same name, was launched. It received both critical acclaim and commercial success. In its debut month alone, it sold over a million copies, and since then, there have been numerous updates.
These modifications encompass a blend of introducing fresh game material, along with addressing bugs and boosting performance. More recently, Lords of the Fallen received compatibility with the PS5 Pro, leveraging its advanced hardware capabilities. Additionally, there have been alterations in enemy density and enhancements to computer performance.
