Ludicrous

Karren Brady expresses her disapproval following the sales strategy presented by one of this year’s The Apprentice contestants.

In the debut episode that aired on the 30th of January, the contestants embarked on a sales mission in Austria. The team that managed to earn the most during this task was declared the winner.

In the division of teams, one focusing on creating a glacier ambiance while the other set up experiences in the woods, the success hinged heavily on ticket sales. However, Anisa Khan’s forest team faced unexpected challenges instead.

In an attempt to boost sales due to low demand, a single contender named Keir Shave took unconventional measures. He reduced ticket prices below the initial agreement and even engaged in playful games of rock-paper-scissors with passersby to entice more people into purchasing them!

To me, it seems utterly absurd to sell goods at a loss, as this path leads straight to financial ruin. And to risk a company’s hard-earned funds on such ventures? I believe gambling with a business’ resources is fundamentally wrong.

Tim Campbell reinforced the idea, stating clearly that gambling should not be considered a viable strategy, and it’s not one that Lord Sugar looks upon favorably.

It seems to me that he might be attempting to secure the sale without losing it, but it’s crucial to avoid negotiations that could potentially leave us at a disadvantage.

In my perspective, as a movie reviewer, the character in question indeed attempted his strategy, alas, it didn’t pan out. Here’s the thing: Gambling, as a tactic, doesn’t mesh well with Lord Sugar. He’s not a risk-taker or a speculator, he’s a calculated decision-maker who meticulously analyzes information before making a move.

Although Keir justified his choices by stating that the game would result in a sale regardless, this didn’t seem to please Lord Sugar.

It’s fortunate for Keir that he escaped the first dismissal of the season; instead, Emma Rothwell was dismissed due to her failure to sell any tickets and failing to convince Lord Sugar that she belonged in the competition.

Leaving behind, Emma shared with the cameras: “Mistakenly, Lord Sugar underestimated my abilities; I’m more than capable of being his business partner. This incident won’t deter me in any way.

Now just 17 candidates remain, but will Keir be so lucky next week?
