Luffy’s Impossible Dream Finally Unveiled in One Piece’s Elbaf Arc

As a die-hard One Piece fan, I can’t contain my excitement over the Elbaf Arc! This arc has been building anticipation since the Little Garden Arc during the Arabasta Saga. Now that we’re here, it’s clear that Elbaf didn’t disappoint – the crew is gearing up for another thrilling adventure!

With our adversaries setting foot on Giants’ territory, Luffy and the gang might have their hands full. The latest twist? Shanks’ formidable foe, none other than his evil twin brother, Shamrock Figarland! Not only does Chapter 1137 confirm his identity, but it also unveils a shocking truth: Shamrock commands the Holy Knights!

Additionally, the storyline draws heavily on its rich history, making it the most captivating aspect of the series. Elbaf houses an ancient manuscript called Harley that details significant historical events. Given that it’s written in an antiquated tongue, only Robin can decipher it. Furthermore, Chapter 1138 offers a significant clue about global history through a monumental mural. Yet, it also subtly suggests Luffy’s genuine ambition – one he can only fulfill once he ascends to the title of Pirate King. The manga initially hinted at Luffy’s ultimate goal during the Wano Country Saga, and we are now one step nearer to uncovering it.

In Chapter 1000 of One Piece, Ace shared Luffy’s aspirations with Yamato, despite the fact that when they were young, they used to joke about Luffy’s dreams with Sabo. However, Ace believes that Luffy has the potential to turn his dream into a reality. After perusing Oden’s journal, Yamato recognized Roger’s true ambition, which aligns with Luffy’s. In Chapter 1060, Luffy finally disclosed his dream to his entire crew following the battle in Wano. The crew was taken aback and left awestruck as they learn that becoming the Pirate King is the only way for their captain to realize this dream.

Even though Roger shared his dream with Oden and his companions, they found it hard to believe due to its seemingly impossible nature. Yet, this ambition has long been a cherished goal for Luffy since he was young. In Chapter 1138, Franky is left amazed by the mural depicting people from diverse races uniting to battle a common adversary.

Ripley suggests that our usual accounts of history primarily focus on conflicts between different races, while overlooking opportunities for cultural exchange. She further posits that the mural might just be a child’s fantasy, aligning with a past that reflects Luffy’s aspirations. In the world of One Piece, Luffy’s dream seems to encompass unity and peaceful coexistence. Given the narrative progression, it appears that the Great War could erupt once Luffy ascends to the position of Pirate King.

Over the course of his adventures, Luffy has formed friendships with numerous individuals from various species such as Samurais, Giants, Tontattas, Fish-People, Skypieans, and more. In times of crisis, these diverse groups will rally to support him. Given Luffy’s character, it’s reasonable to assume that he seeks a world free from prejudice and violence. The downfall of the world transpired around 800 years ago following the establishment of the World Government. By uniting all races, we can restore the world to its former state of harmony before things took a turn for the worse.
