Luke Goodwin, YouTuber Who Battled Rare Cancer, Dead at 35

As a dedicated follower of Luke Goodwin‘s inspiring journey on “I Will Not Be Defeated,” I find myself not only mourning his passing but also deeply moved by the strength, courage, and resilience he displayed throughout his life. Despite being faced with an unimaginable adversary in stage four Leiomyosarcoma, Luke refused to be defeated.

The YouTube community is mourning the loss of an inspiration.

As a lifestyle enthusiast speaking here, I regret to share the heartfelt news of the passing of Luke Goodwin, a courageous soul from the beautiful town of Grimsby in England. Known for his inspiring YouTube channel “I Will Not Be Defeated,” Luke bravely documented his journey with stage four Leiomyosarcoma. His dear wife, Beckey, confirmed his departure on August 2nd, leaving us at the tender age of 35. This news is a poignant reminder of the indomitable spirit and resilience that Luke embodied throughout his life’s journey.

In a video uploaded to Luke’s YouTube channel on August 4th, she expressed that the creation of this video was something she never wished for. Unfortunately, Luke passed away on the 2nd of August. His passing was peaceful and he was at home surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife Beckey, his mother, and father. At this point, Luke has found peace and is no longer experiencing any pain.

Speaking about her deceased spouse, Beckey (who has Taylor, age 5, and Scarlett, age 3, with Luke) started to hold back tears.

Reflecting on my encounter with Luke, I must say he was truly exceptional. He taught me the art of resilience amidst life’s most challenging moments. In essence, he embodied strength not just in words, but in actions. As a loving father, devoted son, and dedicated partner, his impact extends far beyond his presence. His legacy, I believe, will continue to inspire and guide us all.

Additionally, Beckey expressed gratitude towards Luke’s followers for their unwavering support during his challenging journey with terminal illness, a battle he faced in 2022. Despite an initial prognosis that gave him only a year to live, Luke miraculously outlived expectations thanks to multiple rounds of chemotherapy treatment.

She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to each and every one present, stating, “A big thank you to all of you.” She acknowledged that things are tough right now, but emphasized the importance of staying strong-headed. That’s a sentiment Luke often shared, she explained. Essentially, she was saying, “It is what it is.”

She also offered to continue Luke’s channel to maintain his legacy.

“Hopefully I can do more updates if people want that,” she said. “I’m not too sure.”

In April 2023, Luke, with more than 7,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, started recording his fight against cancer. His most recent video was uploaded last month.

He shared that others often remark about his extraordinary mental resilience. “Perhaps it appears unbelievable to you,” he said, explaining his state of health. “But when it’s a matter of finding the means to keep going, it feels as though it simply flows naturally.”
