Game developer Lumines Enhance has unveiled a fresh addition to their timeless arcade puzzle saga titled Lumines Arise.
In Fall 2025, the studio plans to release their new title for PS5, complete with PSVR2 support. This upcoming game appears to be an extension of their past projects like Tetris Effect, offering a captivating blend of music and visual effects within the gameplay that is reminiscent of Lumines.
As a music enthusiast, I find it breathtakingly beautiful, and in certain aspects, it seems perfectly synchronized, mirroring the rhythm of its accompanying melodies.
The PS Blog suggests the game will have a single-player journey similar to Tetris Effect.
According to director Takashi Ishihara, you begin your journey from the darkness (which was hinted at in today’s trailer) and each of the over 30 stages triggers a unique emotional reaction. The stages range from lush jungles, vibrant oceans filled with life, and dangerous encounters with snakes, to more technologically advanced settings like Tokyo’s busy streets and the endless expanse of space. Each setting is designed to stimulate multiple senses, creating a synesthetic experience.
As a devoted enthusiast, let me share some insights about an engaging game titled Lumines. If you haven’t heard of it yet, Lumines is a captivating falling block puzzle game. In this game, you’ll be dropping 2×2 squares into a well, each square consisting of two distinct blocks. The objective? Create matching 2×2 squares!
This innovative feature, referred to as Burst, bears a resemblance to Tetris Effect’s Focus mode. Once you accumulate a meter, you have the ability to momentarily stop time and construct a block, growing it as large as possible before regular time resumes, resulting in a massive point score.
Later this summer, you can expect a preview version of Lumines Arise to become available. This way, you’ll have an opportunity to experience the gameplay prior to its official launch in the fall.
