As the April 18th release approaches for the Lunar Remastered Collection, the writer behind Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, Kei Shigema, is buzzing with anticipation about these classic role-playing games being revamped. In an interview with GamesRadar, Shigema admitted to feeling a bit anxious about the success of the Lunar Remastered Collection, as the two games in the collection are quite vintage and might not resonate with today’s gaming preferences.
Upon learning that Grandia was being remastered, Shigema remarked, ‘What a lovely gesture! I can’t help but feel envious!'” It’s worth noting that Shigema played a role in the original Grandia series, which came out in 2019.
Shigema expressed his excitement, saying, “I had been eagerly awaiting a Lunar remaster too, and I was overjoyed when they finally announced it. Yet, I find myself questioning – will modern gamers appreciate a game that’s three decades old?
Shigema mentioned that just observing a playthrough of timeless games such as “Lunar: Silver Star Story” isn’t quite equivalent to actually playing them. Although watching gameplay videos can offer some insights into the game, it’s essential to engage with the game directly for an authentic experience.
He pointed out that unlike movies, novels, and manga, video games need the specific hardware they were initially released on to be fully enjoyed. This makes them less accessible compared to other forms of media. While watching old gameplay videos can offer a rough idea of the game, it’s the hands-on experience that truly defines video games as a unique medium.
Experience is unmatched when you grab a controller and immerse yourself in gameplay. That’s what makes this remaster thrilling – it revives that hands-on experience for a fresh audience. Here’s hoping that after playing Lunar, players will gaze at the moon and feel a sense of familiarity, knowing ‘That’s where my journey unfolded.’
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the Lunar Remastered Collection is set to grace PCs, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch this April! Whether you prefer digital or physical copies, there’s something for everyone. Just a heads-up, though, physical editions will only be available in North America. So, get ready to embark on an epic journey through time and space!
Back in September 2024, the announcement of this game was made, and it’s set to launch with contemporary elements such as compatibility for wide-screen monitors, high-definition animated sequences, and fresh English voiceovers.
In the Lunar Remastered Collection, you’ll find numerous enhancements for a better gaming experience. However, it’s been confirmed that GungHo Online Entertainment won’t offer the ability to adjust the difficulty level for the classic RPGs. On a positive note, players can engage in the RPGs using Classic Mode, which preserves the games’ original graphics. Additionally, gamers can opt to eliminate the soft-edged blur effect that typically surrounds the screen.
The tale of “Lunar: Silver Star Story” centers around a young lad named Alex, embarking on a journey. However, the narrative shifts dramatically when the Magic Emperor makes an appearance. “Lunar 2: Eternal Blue”, a sequel, unfolds a millennium later, introducing a new lead character called Hiro.
