Lupita Nyong’o Cries While Sharing Grief of Chadwick Boseman’s Death

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling and the human spirit, I find Lupita Nyong’o‘s heartfelt tribute to Chadwick Boseman both poignant and profoundly moving. Four years after his untimely passing, her raw emotions echo the universal experience of losing someone we hold dear.

Lupita Nyong’o will always keep Chadwick Boseman in the warmth of her love.

Four years following the death of the Black Panther star due to colon cancer at age 43, the Oscar-winning actress found herself revisiting her feelings of grief as she watched a scene from the 2018 Marvel movie featuring them.

Lupita candidly shared, during the BFI London Film Festival on October 14th, that she hasn’t watched the movie since Chadwick passed away, and she’s feeling a deep emotional response. She explained, “Grief is simply love without an outlet. I don’t shy away from the tears of grief. You just learn to live with it. That experience will always be intertwined with the love we shared.

She went on to say, “Watching this video left me heartbroken. The pain of losing my friend still feels fresh, and I don’t know when the tears will stop flowing. Yet, there’s a sense of joy in me too – just imagine, he’s alive! What a wonderful thing that is.

Almost two months following her emotional tribute, the actress who stars in “A Quiet Place: Day One” takes a moment to reflect on the occasion marking four years since the passing of Chadwick.

In her August Instagram post, the quote read: “Grief doesn’t disappear; it evolves. It’s not a destination, but a journey. Grieving isn’t about being weak or lacking faith; it’s the cost of loving deeply.

Lupita, 41, added in her own words, “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”

2020 saw the passing of Chadwick before the filming of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” commenced, an event that influenced the melancholic tone of the sequel and prompted a change in the storyline for director Ryan Coogler, as confirmed by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last November, Ryan shared that he led us all through [the project]. Notably, he donned a necklace bearing Chad’s image each day during filming, making it clear that this was both a tribute and a celebration to Chad.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share a fascinating tidbit about a memorable movie moment. You see, none of us involved in the production could disagree more – it was truly extraordinary! Incredibly, Angela Bassett, who breathed life into my on-screen mom, confided that she felt my spirit most powerfully while filming within the throne room set. Simply captivating, isn’t it?

She shared with TopMob News in October 2022, “I was simply sitting there in quiet contemplation, deeply pondering it. The loss of my son, the loss of a king – it was a profound reverence we generally feel, but it was even more intense without him. We were striving to imitate the selflessness he displayed daily, at every moment, with each and every person.

Simultaneously, Danai Gurira – known for portraying T’Challa’s bodyguard Okoye – revealed that working on the set played an essential role in her personal healing process.

One aspect that greatly sustained me during our filmmaking process was maintaining his likeness and remembering him constantly. I found comfort in understanding his work habits, his creative spirit, and his selfless nature, as well as his unwavering dedication to perfection and the strong bond he shared with others.
