Madame Blanc Mysteries renewed for season 4 and Christmas special

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for British detective dramas, I could not be more elated about the renewal of The Madame Blanc Mysteries for a fourth season! Having grown up watching shows like Midsomer Murders and Father Brown, it’s heartening to see a new series that continues to capture the essence of the genre while offering a fresh take on the traditional formula.

The fourth season of the Channel 5 detective series, The Madame Blanc Mysteries, has been officially greenlit, and it’s been announced that there will be a holiday special airing this year as well.

In simple terms, the Christmas special offers a revisit to the realm of Sainte Victoire, followed by six more episodes set for release in 2025.

In the upcoming episodes, actress Sally Lindsay reprises her role as Jean White. Viewers can look forward to watching Jean develop a budding relationship with her partner, Dom Hayes, portrayed by Steve Edge.

Among the recurring characters are Sue Vincent playing Gloria Beaushaw, Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness portraying Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond taking on the role of Chief of Police André Caron.

Additionally, Tony Robinson and Paul Chuckle will reprise their roles as Patrick and Trevor, and there’ll be some delightful unexpected appearances by other guests too.

Lindsay stated, “Five years ago when I first conceived Madame Blanc, if you had told me that our series would become a success not just in the United Kingdom, but also in America, Australia, and Canada (among others), I would have been shocked. Yet, it’s truly happening!”

“Our team is absolutely delighted to present a fresh new season filled with sunshine, laughter, and antiques! The regular crew returns alongside exciting special visitors to Sainte Victoire, and we can hardly wait for everyone to experience it soon.”

In the meantime, Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor for Channel 5, stated: “The Madame Blanc Mysteries have stolen our viewers’ hearts, and we’re thrilled to welcome back our friends from Sainte Victoire. Despite the high crime rates in this village, we’re confident that Jean White and her reliable team will solve each case with their exceptional skills.”

In 2021, the initial run of The Madame Blanc Mysteries hit TV screens, and since then, it has soared in popularity, ranking among Channel 5’s top-performing revivals. Season 3, for instance, attracted an average audience of 2.3 million viewers.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries will return to Channel 5 for its 2024 Christmas special.
