As a long-time fan and admirer of Mae Whitman‘s work, witnessing her journey into parenthood is truly heartwarming. Her choice to name her son Miles, after her dear Parenthood co-star, Miles Heizer, speaks volumes about the bond they share, not just as on-screen siblings, but as real-life friends who have stood by each other through the years.
Mae Whitman has officially entered parenthood.
The actress from Parenthood revealed the arrival of her first child, a son, on August 28th. She posted a picture of the newborn’s feet and made reference to Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber’s recent announcement about their own baby.
“To avoid sounding like Justin Bieber, let me add that I’ve also recently welcomed our son, named Miles, into the world. From the instant we heard his tiniest squeak from those tiny lips, we were smitten.”
36-year-old woman shared that she affectionately called her newborn “the sweetest, most gentle, intelligent, and hilarious little soul,” further disclosing that she had named him after her costar from Parenthood, Miles Heizer, who portrayed her character’s younger brother on the NBC series.
“Mae went on to say about their child, who they had with an unspecified partner, ‘He’s very much like his namesake, Uncle Miles.’ She expressed heartfelt appreciation, adding, ‘We feel incredibly blessed that he decided to make us his parents.'”
She added, “We love you! We’re so happy!”
Hey Mae and Miles! As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can share that since our beloved show wrapped up in 2015, it’s been a joy to maintain our connection. In fact, I had the pleasure of standing by, alongside our on-screen mom, the remarkable Lauren Graham, when she announced her pregnancy. It’s always a delight to witness such special moments together!
On May 12th, I shared a photo of myself with my growing belly alongside my ex-castmates, subtly hinting that Mother’s Day is taking on a unique meaning for me this year!
She continued at the time, “Can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth!”
Similarly, Mae continues to maintain a strong bond with Lauren and regards her as one of her cherished “closest friends” in the circle of the former Gilmore Girls cast.
In her 2023 tribute to Lauren, she expressed that while words might fall short of expressing the vastness of her love and appreciation for her, she would rather avoid attempting to express it, as it might not do justice.
Mae added, “Weeeee I love you LG.”
She has not spoken out on her relationship status or identity of the baby’s father.
