The 2012-debuted manga “Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt,” created by Yasuo Ohtagaki, has declared that it’s approaching its conclusion. With the release of its twenty-fifth volume, the coming twenty-sixth installment this summer will kick off the series’ final act. Beyond the events depicted in the 2015 anime adaptation, Thunderbolt is now gearing up to tie all its plot threads together. Despite health issues that have caused temporary pauses in his work on Mobile Suit titles, Ohtagaki hasn’t specified whether they are connected to the manga’s ending.

Where To Watch Thunderbolt

Regrettably, finding a platform to stream Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt isn’t as simple as one might think, because none of the popular streaming services currently carry the anime adaptation or its two compilation films. It’s disappointing since Thunderbolt is truly a standout in the franchise, offering a much darker narrative than many of its counterparts. Gundam has always been known for its unflinching portrayal of war, but Thunderbolt takes it to another level. Fortunately, you can still purchase the series from certain retailers in physical format.

If you’re new to this series, let me explain. The story is a spin-off set in the same universe as the original show from the ’70s, titled “Into the tumultuous battlefield step two experienced Mobile Suit pilots: ruthless Zeon sniper Daryl Lorenz and Federation ace Io Fleming. Their rivalry begins here, with only one surviving until the end. The intense, lightning-fast debris fields will be the battleground for an epic duel where the only victor is death itself. As of now, there are no confirmed sequel anime adaptations for this series, but the Gundam franchise has been open to revisiting established universes in recent times.
