As a lifelong cinephile who’s seen more sitcoms than I care to count, the return of Man Like Mobeen for its fifth and final season is like finding that last slice of pizza in the fridge on a Monday morning – pure joy! Having grown up in Small Heath myself, I can relate to the struggles and humor portrayed in this show. I’ve had my fair share of Uncle Shady-like figures in my life!
Confirmed news: Guz Khan’s BBC sitcom “Man Like Mobeen” is coming back for its last installment, and currently, production is happening in Coventry and Turkey.
As I settled into my seat for the anticipated premiere of this gripping series, I couldn’t help but recall the nail-biting ending of season 4, where our protagonist, Mobeen, found himself under attack within prison walls. Now, fast forward to the present: Mobeen finds freedom once more and reconnects with his Small Heath gang. However, the real adventure begins when he sets off on a grand journey abroad – if only he can manage to secure a plane ticket and a convincing fake passport for the ride!
Two fresh images have been unveiled to signal the comeback of our show. One picture features Mobeen, played by Khan, in a toy store, while another depicts Mobeen alongside Tolu Ogunmefun’s character Nate and Perry Fitzpatrick’s character Harper, seated together.
Khan made a statement expressing that this matter is crucial to the integrity and smooth operation of his daily life, as he finds it hard to go shopping at Aldi without being interrupted by someone asking about the next release of ‘Man Like Mobeen’.
Here’s one last, unique season of Man Like Mobeen for your enjoyment, and this is it – there won’t be another. By the way, I wouldn’t want to create more as I have many children to care for. Take care.
Additionally, Khan, Ogunmefun, and Fitzpatrick will be joined by a cast that includes Salman Akhtar reprising his role as Saj, Duaa Karim as Aqsa, Mark Silcox as Uncle Shady, Korkmaz Arslan as Emre, and Hussina Raja as Nida in the series.
Jon Petrie, head of comedy at the BBC, shared: “Man Like Mobeen has been an unstoppable force of laughter on BBC Three, and letting go is going to be hard for all involved. However, we must face reality and understand that this marks the conclusion.
Guz Khan and his co-creator Andy Milligan have produced something extraordinary with these final scripts. We’re ending this series on a high note, and it might be difficult to keep a straight face! Despite being the last season, it’s more grandiose and hilarious than ever before.
In 2021, Khan has been featured in various productions such as The Gentlemen, The Fanciful Exploits of Dick Turpin, and the movie titled How to Woo Billy Walsh.
Man Like Mobeen will return for its fifth and final season in 2025 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
