Originating from Primal Game Studio and distributed by Knights Peak Interactive, Mandragora serves as their first independent game release. Previously, they’ve been involved in creating games such as League of Legends.

Mandragora springs to life due to Brian Mitsoda’s gripping storyline, a masterful tale that has gained him acclaim from his work on Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines. This stunningly brutal setting is adorned with hand-painted artwork and an original soundtrack, skillfully created by Christos Antoniou (Septicflesh), mainly played by the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague.

In contrast to many other Metroidvania games, Mandragora allows gamers to customize their adventure in Faelduum by selecting from six unique character classes, such as Vanguards, Spellbinders, or those in between. The game offers specialized talent trees for each class, which encompass a remarkable 96 passive skills and over 200 active skill enhancements. Customization extends beyond this, as players can control various aspects of their playable character, including body type, voice, skin tone, hairstyle, and even tattoos.

In Faelduum, you’ll encounter a rich and vibrant world filled with gleaming treasures waiting to be discovered. Across its ten expansive maps, you’ll come across over 350 assorted wearables, consumables, and crafting materials. The game allows you to outfit your character in various equipment slots, including primary and secondary weapon slots for a more strategic gameplay experience. Each of the six character classes will start with a basic weapon, but you have the freedom to customize your character as you prefer, keeping in mind the Equip Load limitations. You can acquire new loot by crafting items, defeating enemies, or completing one of the game’s numerous quests (over 40). Additionally, players can create and manage two distinct characters and seamlessly switch between them during combat or otherwise.

In Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree, you’ll enjoy a wide range of customization options for your character and gameplay style. However, what sets this game apart is its tough moral decisions that will captivate you and plunge you deep into a grim narrative. As the world succumbs to Entropy, you’ll encounter distinctive and lethal bosses who strive to maintain the miserable, joyless existence of Faelduum’s people. Your challenge is to select your course through rips in reality or risk repeated deaths as you navigate this harrowing tale.

The enchanting game titled “Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree” is set to arrive on Xbox, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and PlayStation. Preorders for the PC version are available now, offering unique perks like the Gildcrest Transmog Set, Nimble Doeling pet companion, an exclusive in-game quest, and early access to game preview. First unveiled at Gamescom in 2023, Mandragora was initially slated for a 2024 release but has since been postponed and renamed, now scheduled for April 17, 2025.
