According to Bungie’s announcement, the release of their game, Marathon, has been pushed back from September 23rd to an undisclosed date in the future. This decision was made based on feedback received during closed alpha testing and comments posted on social media platforms like Twitter and Discord.
Considering the dedication you’ve shown for Marathon, we recognize the need for more time to create a game that matches your enthusiasm. Following thorough discussions among our development team, we’ve decided to postpone the initial release date of September 23rd.
This Fall, a fresh launch date for the upcoming update will be disclosed, and as we approach that time, there will be additional rounds of closed testing. At present, Bungie is dedicating their efforts to enhancing the rewards from gameplay sessions, introducing new varieties of loot, and creating dynamic events, all while increasing the intensity and strategy in combat. This overhaul will also feature more demanding and captivating AI interactions.
Additionally, you might encounter “enhanced graphic precision,” a “grimmer ambiance” reflecting the original series’ motifs, an improved gaming environment for single and cooperative gamers, and what could be even more exciting, real-time proximity communication (proximity chat).
The game titled “Marathon” is currently being created for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers. Recently, Bungie found themselves in a dispute when an ex-employee used an artist’s work without her consent, which reportedly affected the studio’s spirit. There are rumors of a plan being developed for public playtests, so keep an eye out for further news.
