Maren Morris Reveals New Career Milestone

In the glamorous world of Hollywood, it’s always a treat to witness the dazzling display of stars gracing the red carpet. And this time around, it was no different! The week started with a bang as some of our favorite celebrities stepped out for the premieres of their latest projects.

Maren Morris is chasing after new musical moments.

Recently, I’ve been focusing my talents on the silver screen, composing both music and lyrics for DreamWorks Animation’s “The Wild Robot.” Although I’m venturing into film, I haven’t made up my mind about stepping into acting roles quite yet, Maren here.

She shared with Francesca Amiker from TopMob News at The Wild Robot Toronto International Film Festival premiere on September 8th that “I’m all about the music right now.” She hinted at possibly trying acting in the future, but for now she feels content in the writing room. This is her first time having music she wrote featured in a film, and she couldn’t imagine a more ideal encounter.

For Maren, who has a shared 4-year-old son Hayes with her former husband Ryan Hurd, this movie is an ideal choice for the entire family to enjoy together.

The 34-year-old clarified that it’s designed for everyone. It helps with experiences children often face, such as struggling initially in something new and finding a mentor to assist them along the way,” or simply, “It caters to all ages, helping individuals navigate their initial struggles in new areas while providing guidance.

She noted, “There’s plenty of wit and well-crafted content suitable for mature audiences as well.” Regardless of your age, she believes that it will leave you either in stitches or teary-eyed, or perhaps both.

Maren’s team-up with DreamWorks for the movie featuring Mark Hamill, Catherine O’Hara, and Lupita Nyong’o marks a fresh phase in the “My Church” singer’s career. Earlier, she had shared about stepping away from country music temporarily.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in September 2023, Maren shared that her upbringing and songwriting style are deeply rooted in country music, following the Nashville approach. However, she expressed a desire to primarily concentrate on creating quality music rather than focusing too much on its marketing strategy.

As a passionate advocate, I’ve found myself stepping away from the turbulence within our musical community, distancing myself from much of the drama that has arisen recently, including my past engagement with certain issues. This decision was made in order to focus on other aspects of my life and work outside of this particular conflict.

However, some assumed she was leaving country music for good, but later, she eased her fans’ concerns by confirming that she wouldn’t be departing the genre permanently.

Maren expressed that country music is deeply rooted within her and it’s not something she could ever abandon, since it’s a part of who she is and what she’s always done. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2023, she added that although she’s been versatile across genres throughout her career, country music remains the genre she primarily writes.

And when it comes to the highs and the lows of the industry, she decided to focus on the positive.

She added, “I’m keeping the positive aspects and everyone is invited to join! However, certain aspects no longer felt right for me. As a result, I feel much more content now.
