As a long-time fan of the Mario and Luigi series, I must say that the latest trailer for “Mario and Luigi: Brothership” has sent my excitement levels through the roof! Ever since I first played Super Mario Bros. on an old NES back in the day, these two brothers have been a constant source of joy and entertainment in my gaming life.
Following several short clips of gameplay, Nintendo has unveiled a summary trailer for the new installment in the series titled Mario and Luigi: Brothership. As the first release since 2015’s Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, this platformer/RPG finds our beloved brothers setting sail to Concordia. Originally a single continent, an unusual power has now fragmented it into numerous islands.
On Shipshape Island, Mario and Luigi embark on an adventure, visiting various islands inhabited by diverse residents and cultures. Exploration plays a significant role in their journey, made smoother with the new Bros. abilities such as transforming into a UFO to bridge gaps. Additionally, Luigi has independent functions like coin collection when he’s not using a barrel for Mario’s protection.
In the style of the Paper Mario games, battles rely heavily on timing, allowing for dodges, counterattacks, and increased damage with precise button presses at the right moment. The Bros. Attacks provide powerful team moves, while Battle Plugs can activate passive abilities such as raining iron balls onto enemies or transforming a single-target attack into an area effect.
Mario and Luigi: Brothership launches on November 7th for Nintendo Switch.
