Mario Kart World Announced as Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Title

Nintendo started its Switch 2 presentation with a new video for the upcoming Mario Kart, known as Mario Kart World. This game is scheduled to release simultaneously with the console, offering classic features such as transforming vehicles. However, instead of being confined to tracks, kart races in this version stretch across expansive landscapes worldwide. Here’s the first trailer for you:

In Mario Kart World, a few novel features are introduced: weather and time of day affect race dynamics, and players can roam freely. Notably, Grand Prix is back with each Cup consisting of four tracks, but what sets it apart is that you transition directly to the next course upon completion of a race. Each competition can accommodate up to 24 drivers, marking the highest number in the series’ history.

In one of the latest options, you’ll find the Knockout Tour, where you compete in a continuous race across different parts of the globe. There are several checkpoints along the way – if your position falls below the specified placement at any given checkpoint, you’re eliminated. Additionally, Free Roam is offered for various regions to discover hidden paths and locations. Your friends can join you on this journey, and there’s even a Photo Mode feature available.

On April 17th, you’ll find out more about Mario Kart World through a special Direct broadcast, so keep an eye out for further updates!
