As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share the fascinating revelation that Nintendo has disclosed about their upcoming masterpiece, Mario Kart World, which is set to launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow. In an enlightening conversation with GamesRadar, the game’s producer, Kosuke Yabuki, unveiled a surprising truth: during the game’s development, Nintendo pondered over leaving behind several cherished elements that are typically synonymous with Mario Kart. Each traditional aspect of the beloved franchise was subject to scrutiny, making us fans eagerly anticipate what fresh twists await us in this new adventure!
In the game, there were items such as the banana skin, which might have been eliminated and could make other racers lose their footing on the track. Yabuki suggested that both the banana peel and the green shell could‘ve been discarded during production.
As a gamer creating this fresh new world for Mario Kart, I pondered over every single element that’s part of this exciting game, including the legendary banana peel. I even questioned if it was still fitting to include such an item in our new realm, Mario Kart World.
In my gaming world, I’ve been pondering if the iconic green shell will find its place in the thrilling tracks of the upcoming Mario Kart World. The reason for this debate stems from the exciting new rail-grinding feature that the game is introducing. Shigeru Miyamoto, the mastermind behind the studio, shared his thoughts on this matter, expressing that he thinks it’d be cool if the green shell could slide along the rails as well.
He added, “Another instance is the green shell, too.” He continued, “It’s been a part of Mario Kart for quite some time, but when we examined it, we pondered, ‘Is it functional enough if players can simply toss it across the track?’ For example, characters like Mario and others can drive over the barriers. Shouldn’t we also make it possible for the shell to glide over the rails as well?
When evaluating each suggested item, we’ve examined their original specifications and determined if modifications are necessary, such as making adjustments or adding new components.
In the end, they opted to transfer both the banana peel and green shell into the Mario Kart World. It’s important to mention that because of the various transportation choices now available to players, employing these items during a race could turn out to be significantly tougher than it was in Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or earlier games.
Previously in May, Yabuki mentioned that the open-world structure of “Mario Kart World” might result in over 100 courses if offered in a more conventional menu format. He highlighted that this expansion was largely due to the open-world design enabling developers to create numerous track variations and seamlessly combine various types of tracks together.
Atsuko Asahi, the musician behind the soundtrack, has affirmed that the game boasts over 200 unique tracks in its “jukebox”. These tunes are all fresh arrangements, with some live recordings included. The collection spans a broad range of musical genres, ensuring that both seasoned video game music enthusiasts and newcomers will appreciate the melodies.
