Mario Kart World could potentially be among the most significant debut games coming this summer. If you’re a gaming enthusiast looking for more insights, the Treehouse: Live stream offers glimpses of numerous alterations and enhancements. You can watch it here below.
In contrast to Mario Kart 8, the new version no longer allows players to select individual kart components; instead, each vehicle retains its own unique attributes. You can still opt for different speeds (50, 100, or 150 CC) in each Cup during the Grand Prix, and a quick preview of the courses you’ll compete on is provided before starting the race.
The latest additions feature the Coin Generator (which produces Coins upon collision) and the Jump Booster (for higher leaps). These items are now automatically carried by the player without requiring continuous button presses. Additionally, you can exploit techniques such as the Rolling on Rails and Clinging to Walls, accumulating speed for an advantageous position, and even chain several tricks in mid-air.
The game features changing weather patterns and day/night transitions, where Mario’s hat becomes wet in the rain. Winning a race causes a crown to appear on your character. In the subsequent race, you compete against others while navigating the highway with incoming traffic, ramps, and speed boost pads. Essentially, you are racing along a busy highway.
Due to this, the entire world seems like a single, high-speed race track during a Grand Prix event. Banners reminiscent of Mario TV pop up, enhancing the sporty ambiance. One of the standout new tracks is DK Spaceport, which evokes a nostalgic feel of classic Donkey Kong and Jumpman with Robo DK tossing barrels included.
To create a more tranquil environment, simply click the ‘Plus’ button to enter the Free Roam mode. Lakitu won’t interfere if you stray from your path, so feel free to explore anywhere. You can view different courses on the World Map and quickly travel to them. This mode is perfect for practice and you’ll encounter other racers along the way.
Mario Kart World launches on June 5th alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, and will retail for $79.99.
