It remains undecided if Mario Kart World is the most content-rich game in the series at this point, but there’s no arguing about its abundance of content. Nintendo has unveiled numerous new racers and tracks for it, but exactly how many more can players expect to enjoy?
The question is challenging because, as producer Kosuke Yabuki explains in an interview, “Racing doesn’t only happen on the tracks. The spaces between tracks are also used for racing. So effectively, there are ‘courses’ scattered worldwide, and if you were to calculate all potential variations, it would easily surpass 100.
In this open world, you’ll find a variety of activities that are optional yet engaging, such as discovering different costumes and numerous P Switches, each presenting distinct challenges. However, the visual appeal is just one aspect of the Mario Kart experience. The other half that truly completes the package is the soundtrack, which promises a multitude of fresh tunes.
Music Lead Atsuko Asahi explains that in modes such as Free Roam, they’ve not only incorporated additional tunes aligned with the game’s themes but also designed a feature where the game automatically selects suitable music based on the situation. During the development process, they referred to this as the ‘jukebox’. To achieve this, they compiled various arrangements of music previously composed for Super Mario and Mario Kart games.
In total, there are over 200 tunes in the jukebox that Asahi unveils, which are all fresh adaptations. We’ve also recorded some live performances. The songs we’ve selected cover a broad range of musical genres. I think both those familiar with video game music and those who aren’t will find them enjoyable to listen to.
As a passionate gamer, I’m super excited to share that “Mario Kart World” is set to roll out on my Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th, priced at $79.99. However, this is the first time Nintendo has released a game at this price point, which has stirred up some debate in the gaming community. But if you’re like me and can’t wait, you can grab it along with the console itself in a sweet bundle deal for just $499.99! Let the races begin!
Explore our additional information for further insights. Additionally, delve into the origins of its creation on the Switch, as well as the reasons behind Nintendo’s decision to transition to the Switch 2.
