Marisa Tomei's Favorite Memory of Spider-Man Trilogy Was "Watching" Tom Holland and Zendaya "Fall in Love"

As a long-time Marvel enthusiast and gamer with a soft spot for the web-slinging hero, I must say that Marissa Tomei’s insights into the Spider-Man franchise have only deepened my admiration for the cinematic universe. Hearing about her unique bond with Tom Holland and Zendaya, witnessing their growth, and observing their undeniable talent firsthand, is a testament to the magic of storytelling that Marvel has mastered.

As a gamer, I’ve been lucky enough to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe family five times, playing Aunt May alongside the Spider-Man crew. But what I cherish most about this experience, as I shared at Toronto’s Fan Expo (EW was there), is what unfolds off-screen. Watching Tom Holland and Zendaya mature and develop their beautiful relationship has been truly special for me. And let me tell you, the energy and immense stardom that these two bring to set never ceases to amaze!

“Tomei expressed that one of her favorite aspects was observing Tom and Zendaya mature over time, witnessing their beautiful relationship blossom, and marveling at their extraordinary talent. From the very beginning, she was left in awe… and even now, she continues to be amazed.”

“Some people are just meant for it,” she added. “And they are meant for it.”

She also commended the skills and talents of the actors portraying Spider-Man and Michelle “MJ” Jones, not only in their acting but in other areas as well.

Tomei stated, “They possess an extraordinary amount of charisma and talent, managing to remain authentic individuals while excelling in multiple areas. They can perform music, dance, act, perform stunts, and design fashion – it seems there’s nothing they can’t do! They are truly exceptional individuals.”

Could Tomei Return as Aunt May in the MCU?

Marisa Tomei played the role of Aunt May in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the latter film, Aunt May passed away, but in 2022, she expressed openness to reprising her role given the idea of the Multiverse, although she confessed that she was not entirely clear on its meaning.

She once mentioned, “Indeed, there exists a Multiverse. This was kept under wraps initially, but it’s become more widely known.” However, she added, “Whenever someone inquired about it, I would confess my lack of understanding. If anyone asked, ‘And so, where am I now?’ I would say, ‘Well, could you please explain it to me again?'” In essence, she was admitting that while the Multiverse was a part of their discussions, she herself wasn’t fully versed in its concepts.

She mentioned, “It’s really appealing to me to rejoin and contribute again. That place holds significance, as well. You know, May Parker could potentially team up with Ant-Man. Of course, she is an individual character in her own right, but there are definitely other connections to delve into.”

What’s Going on With Spider-Man 4?

Although details about Spider-Man 4 have been scarce, Marvel boss Kevin Feige mentioned in July that an early draft of the script for the fourth movie is expected to arrive shortly.

As a game enthusiast, I’m right in the thick of it with Amy [Pascal]. We’ve got some talented scribes brewing up a script for us, and we should be getting our hands on it pretty soon.
