Martin Lawrence Hinted at Daughter’s Wedding Before Marriage News

Martin Lawrence was ready for his daughter to take the next step with Eddie Murphy’s son. 

Prior to Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence’s wedding, which took place a day before The Nutty Professor star confirmed it, the actor from Bad Boys only had warm remarks for his new son-in-law.

On the May 28th edition of Jennifer Hudson’s daytime talk show, I shared my thoughts about Eric, stating, “He’s an exceptional young man.” In a playful manner, I hinted at the possibility of a future commitment, suggesting, “Perhaps a wedding could be something worth considering for them.

Certainly, even though Martin didn’t explicitly approve or attend his daughter’s wedding, he made it clear that he and Eddie were deeply involved in their relationship.

He clarified, “I believe we share a similar mindset. We’re both nurturing, aiming to provide the best for our kids. Instead of interfering, we allow them the freedom to choose their paths and make decisions on their own. In essence, we guide them by giving them space to discover their journey.

The next day, Eddie disclosed that their children had decided on an unconventional route for their upcoming engagement in 2024 – opting for an elopement instead of organizing a grand wedding ceremony.

On The Jennifer Hudson Show, Eddie shared that everyone seemed to be busy arranging elaborate wedding plans. However, he revealed that the couple in question opted for a more intimate affair, choosing to keep things simple and have only the two of them present.

Of course, the star of “Coming to America” didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at Martin, who is father to 24-year-old Iyanna and 22-year-old Amara. As Eddie pointed out, fortunately for Martin, he no longer has to foot the bill for a wedding now.

As for the happy couple, it comes as no surprise they were eager to make their romance official. 

Jasmin expressed her joy in an Instagram post last November, stating that God has given us a love that seems fated. They are overjoyed and eager to embark on this new phase of their lives.

Eric, for his part, has previously noted that his life would be “incomplete” without his now-wife. 

In the year 2023, he penned a heartfelt birthday tribute to Jasmin, expressing that the time we share together feels timeless.
