Marvel Celebrates 85th Anniversary With Top 85 Moments in the MCU

As a lifelong Marvel fan who has grown up with these characters, it’s nothing short of exhilarating to witness the MCU’s Top 85 Moments video. It’s like a walk down memory lane that spans decades, filled with moments I’ve lived through and cherished since my first comic book purchase. From the initial roar of Iron Man in 2008 to the emotional farewell of Iron Man in Endgame, it’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions that only a true Marvel fan could truly appreciate.

Travel through time with Marvel’s Cinematic Universe once more to re-live its most memorable scenes. As we celebrate 85 years of Marvel, the company that started as a comic book publisher and now reigns supreme at box offices worldwide, as well as providing thrilling entertainment for home viewers, it all began with 2008’s Iron Man, which not only brought Robert Downey Jr. back to stardom but also sparked the return of shared-universe storytelling on screen. Throughout the years, there have been some truly iconic moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if you’ve ever wondered what they are, you can find them all in a special collection that provides an in-depth analysis.

Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel shared a video lasting nearly an hour, titled “85 Iconic MCU Moments.” To mark Marvel’s 85th anniversary, this video traces the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline from “Captain America: The First Avenger” to “Loki” Season 2. This compilation includes 85 pivotal scenes that can be watched on Disney+. Starting with a scene from “Captain America: The First Avenger,” it moves through to “Captain Marvel,” following the timeline instead of the order in which each movie was initially released in theaters. Even “The Incredible Hulk,” often underappreciated, is featured in this selection.

The MCU reveals its Top 85 moments

Reviewing the 52-minute, 14-second video montage underscores the numerous unforgettable instances that have transpired within the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. What truly sets this compilation apart is the incorporation of theme music from each film, adding a unique touch to the footage. For example, Henry Jackman’s score for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the memorable Avengers theme that first appeared in the 2012 movie are included.

Significant events occur near the midpoint of the video, where Earth’s strongest heroes succumb to Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and later stage a comeback in “Avengers: Endgame.” The latter film, much anticipated by Marvel enthusiasts for over a decade, brought the iconic “Avengers Assemble” line from Captain America to life. Regrettably, it was also the film where Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice to halt Thanos.

What’s up next for the MCU?

2024 will be a significant comeback year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as only Deadpool and Wolverine films are slated for release. The following year, 2025, promises an exciting expansion with the introduction of The Fantastic Four in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” marking their long-awaited entry into the MCU after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Additionally, Marvel plans to return to a three-film theater release schedule with Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts on the horizon.

It’s tentatively planned that Mahershala Ali will star in a new version of Blade, but the movie has experienced several setbacks and changes in leadership. On the Disney+ front, we have Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart in the works.
