Marvel confirms Daredevil: Born Again release date on Disney Plus

As a seasoned Marvel fan and aficionado of gritty, street-level superhero stories, I must say that the announcement of Daredevil: Born Again has sent a thrill coursing through my veins like the adrenaline rush from an illicit fight club. The fact that it’s been almost seven years since we last saw Matt Murdock in action is a testament to the enduring appeal of this character, and I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for the Netflix days when our heroes were grittier, darker, and more flawed.

Disney Plus has officially revealed the launch date for the eagerly awaited reboot of Daredevil, titled Daredevil: Born Again.

The story continues post the Netflix cancellation of the Daredevil series in 2018, where Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock, the visually impaired attorney turned vigilante, known as Kin in this context.

The project is well-known for its chaotic development process, where filming was temporarily stopped midway due to Marvel’s head, Kevin Feige, instructing the creative team to go back and rethink their plans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been said that the initial version of the show, unlike its Netflix predecessor, was more like a legal drama. It wasn’t until episode four that Charlie Cox first wore the famous Daredevil costume.

Previously, there was a significant change in the production team of the show, which led to Dario Scardapane taking over as the lead producer. This transition seems to have brought the series back closer to its original style and mood, as suggested by the previews shown at San Diego Comic-Con and D23.

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the official trailer of the upcoming show, which was unveiled at various summer events. Regrettably, it hasn’t yet graced our screens online for the masses. However, I am thrilled to share that we now have a date when we’ll all be able to tune in and witness this cinematic spectacle together.

On the fourth Tuesday of March, 2025, Daredevil: Born Again will be available on Disney Plus. This information was shared during a panel at New York Comic Con by producer Sana Amanat, as reported by Variety.

The series brings Cox together once more with his past Netflix colleagues, such as Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin/Wilson Fisk), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), John Bernthal (The Punisher), and Wilson Bethel (Bullseye/Dex).

It’s been verified that Mohan Kapur, who portrayed Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) father in Ms Marvel and The Marvels, will once again take on this role in Born Again; however, the specific details of what events will lead him to Matt Murdock’s law office are yet to be revealed.

Matt Murdock, a lawyer who is also blind but has extraordinary skills, works tirelessly to uphold justice via his busy legal practice. Simultaneously, the ex-mob boss Wilson Fisk embarks on political ambitions within New York City.

As their previous selves start to resurface, these two individuals are unwittingly headed towards a fated confrontation.

Previously, Cox and D’Onofrio made appearances in various Marvel productions such as Hawkeye, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Echo, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law within the larger Marvel Universe framework.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney Plus on Tuesday 4th March 2025.
