Make room, Marvel Rivals, there’s a fresh addition to the Marvel Universe on the horizon! This upcoming holiday season, gaming enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the action-packed world of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a brand-new beat ’em up style video game boasting an impressive roster of Marvel superheroes. The game’s trailer was unveiled during today’s Nintendo Direct, offering a sneak peek at its 2D arcade-style gameplay and a glimpse of some characters we can expect when the game launches. While the official release date is still under wraps, it’s anticipated to drop during the 2025 holiday season.
The game titled “Marvel Cosmic Adventure” is created by Tribute Games, famous for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge“, together with Dometu and Marvel Games. This exciting space-themed adventure will be playable not just on the Nintendo Switch but also on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. So, Marvel enthusiasts who prefer different platforms can anticipate engaging in the retro-styled superhero battles when the game is released later this year. To get a feel for how thrilling this could be for arcade game lovers, watch the announcement trailer below:
Marvel Cosmic Invasion offers a nostalgic 90s arcade-style 2D animation, reminiscent of classic beat ’em up games in an arcade setting. In this combat-centric game, players will join the fight across diverse locations ranging from New York City to the Negative Zone, battling against Annihilus’ all-out assault. At its launch, the game will offer 15 characters from the Marvel Universe for play, such as Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Storm, and Captain America. Additionally, it allows you to team up with or against friends in both online co-op and split-screen couch co-op modes, even across different platforms with cross-platform multiplayer.
Marvel’s Cosmic Invasion can now be added to your wishlist on Steam, and it’s scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation systems towards the end of this year.
