The comic book series, TVA, serves as an engaging continuation of the beloved Loki’s journey, offering a fresh take on the characters we’ve grown to love.
It’s still uncertain if there will be a third season of Loki, but Marvel is continuing the storyline through comic books. In the final episode of Season 2, Loki took on the role of “He Who Remains,” managing to keep all timelines in the multiverse intact while being at its core for eternity. This change has given the TVA a new objective and purpose, which hasn’t been fully revealed yet since we’ve only seen the organization in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, the TVA appears to be operational again with some intriguing new members, effectively functioning as an unofficial Loki Season 3. *Proceed with caution: The following content contains spoilers for TVA #1. TVA’s first installment hails from the imaginative minds of Katharyn Blair, Pere Perez, Guru-eFX, and VC’s Joe Sabino. The storyline boasts an engaging ensemble of characters such as Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy), Wolverine’s Ultimate Universe son Jimmy Hudson, Captain Carter from What If…?, and a unique take on Gambit. Additionally, characters from Loki like Mobius, Miss Minutes, B-15, O.B., and potentially Sylvie’s variant Ingrid make an appearance. Essentially, the initial cast of Loki is reunited in this comic series, albeit collaborating instead of crossing paths as they did on the show.
Marvel’s TVA series serves as a new season of Loki
In essence, although the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe generally operate independently, there are moments when events from one intertwine with the other. To put it simply, the initial motto for the MCU was “It’s all connected,” and this concept is evident in the discussion between Miss Minutes and Spider-Gwen. Miss Minutes summarizes the finale of Loki by explaining how the Time Variance Authority (TVA) used to eliminate entire timelines for the sake of preserving a single, sacred timeline. She also mentions Loki’s revelation that the timekeepers are not real entities and his subsequent destruction of the temporal loom. Interestingly, Mobius adds his thoughts on how Loki inadvertently saved the multiverse through his selfless act. Truly, Loki has proven himself a devoted ally.
B-15 is now managing an advanced version of TVA, and interestingly enough, she’s also been seen in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine.” As new rules bring about new leaders, we have this diverse group from various timeframes, without a specific base. It’s almost as if you could envision these heroes gracing either the big or small screen whenever the TVA makes another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Ghost-Spider isn’t part of this team, she could effortlessly be replaced by another character in “What If…?” Season 3.
In simpler terms, the danger uniting the TVA centers around a disease that’s infecting multiple timeframes. This illness can manifest people’s deepest fears into reality, for example, causing Gambit to be assaulted by a zombie version of Rogue. Issue #1 concludes with Gwen emerging from a disturbing dream, leaving readers questioning whether the events portrayed in the initial issue are real or simply figments of her imagination.
At D23 Brazil in November, the head of streaming at Marvel Entertainment, Brad Winderbaum, spoke with CinePop about the prospect of a third season for the series Loki. While he was rather vague on the topic, Winderbaum playfully hinted that “there’s always a chance” for more adventures featuring Loki. However, for now, fans will have to content themselves with Marvel Studios’ upcoming TVA (Temporal Variance Authority) series.
