Marvel Kills Off Netflix Fan-Favorite Character in Shocking Moment

As a long-time fan of Marvel’s gritty street-level heroes, I must say that the latest turn of events in “Infinity Watch” has left me both intrigued and saddened. The introduction of an Infinity Stone-wielding Colleen Wing was an exciting prospect, and her swift demise in the debut issue has certainly sparked a whirlwind of emotions.

As fans eagerly anticipate the premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again” and Marvel’s street-level heroes on TV, the comics have bestowed a significant power upgrade on one of these previously Netflix characters. The source of this enhanced power is an Infinity Stone, a relic that Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will recall from the Infinity Saga. The Infinity Stones have been taken up by humans who band together as the Infinity Watch. This beloved character from Netflix is among the familiar faces on this team. However, Marvel has already chosen an unexpected route to kill off this character in the first issue of Infinity Watch.

Title #1 of “Infinity Watch” hails from the creative minds of Derek Landy, Ruairi Coleman, Scott Hanna, Brian Reber, Erick Arciniega, and VC’s Cory Petit. Here, we meet the Infinity Watch – Reality (Star), Soul (Multitude), Mind (Colleen Wing), Time (Overtime), Space (Quantum), Power (Apex), Death (Phil Coulson) – as they attempt to emulate the Avengers by collaborating at their clandestine island headquarters. Notably, Colleen Wing and Phil Coulson are the most recognized members of the Infinity Watch team. Given that Marvel loves a bit of drama, it’s no surprise that one of them meets an untimely demise early on. Since Coulson bears the Death Stone, it seems Colleen Wing is the likely candidate for a sacrifice.

Colleen Wing dies in her first mission with Marvel’s Infinity Watch

The Infinity Watch receives an urgent message at their operation center, prompting their immediate response. Upon arrival, they face off against a powerful trio of extraterrestrial beings. Despite our heroes’ best efforts, they struggle to match the invaders’ strength. However, when they unite and pool their powers, it still isn’t enough to defeat the antagonists. In a surprising turn of events, someone accompanying them stabs one of the villains with a massive sword, causing them to retreat.

In a surprising turn of events, we’re dealing with an enigmatic figure known as Avery Zavala. He claims to be not just an ordinary citizen, but a stone bearer hailing from another dimension. Avery has been on the trail of some malevolent entities called the Apeiron, and he believes that his sword, forged with Infinity Powers, is their Achilles’ heel. What sets Avery apart is that he’s the last known stone bearer surviving from his universe. An intriguing detail about the Apeiron is that they have a habit of devouring stone bearers and the Infinity Stones within them.

seizing their Infinity Stones and superimposing his universe onto theirs. He requires only the Mind Stone to incapacitate the heroes, which is currently being hosted by Colleen Wing. It transpires that Avery had already murdered Colleen and acquired the Mind Stone before their discussion even commenced.

Is Colleen Wing really dead?

The main query arising from Infinity Watch #1 revolves around whether Colleen Wing actually perished or not. Given her immense popularity, it’s likely she isn’t among the Infinity Stone bearers, and her being the last character to bond with a stone suggests she’s still alive. Yet, depicting her bleeding on the ground at the end of issue #1 is an effective strategy for generating excitement around the comic and boosting sales.

Jessica Henwick portrayed Colleen Wing in Netflix’s “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders.” With many Marvel Netflix characters returning to the MCU in “Daredevil: Born Again,” it remains undecided if Finn Jones or Henwick will reprise their roles as Danny Rand and Colleen Wing. There was previously a strong fan movement advocating for Colleen Wing to take over as Iron Fist from Danny Rand, but this has diminished since the cancellation of “Iron Fist.

To learn whether Colleen Wing is alive or not, you’ll need to be patient and check out issue #2 of Infinity Watch, which goes on sale on February 19, 2025.
