If you’re not aware, Carl Burbank, also known as Bushwacker, was initially a priest who departed the church and transformed into a CIA assassin (which is quite an unusual career path). He was first introduced by Ann Nocenti and artist Rick Leonardi in Daredevil #248 from 1987. Most often, he’s been seen in issues of Daredevil, but he’s also encountered characters like Wolverine from the X-Men and the Punisher. In this context, “hired gun” means something different as he is a villain renowned for his extraordinary talent to transform his cybernetic arm into multiple types of weapons.

The Winter Soldier, suggesting that the films are establishing a new, clear brand for what Marvel is aiming towards in the future.

Mackie expressed, “The title suggests a change – we face a larger, more formidable adversary. Previously in Captain America: The First Avenger to Endgame, the conflict was always about good versus evil. Now that we’ve overcome that, what lies ahead? If the villains return, how will they manifest this time? This new phase presents a fresh narrative with novel characters, distinct ideologies, and paints a picture of a different world we are venturing into.”
