As a longtime fan of the Daredevil and Punisher saga, I’m thrilled to see the dynamic between Elektra Daredevil and Joe Garrison Punisher unfold in the upcoming comic series, “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear” Vol. 2. This new crossover promises an intriguing take on these iconic characters as they face off against each other.
Matt Murdock and Frank Castle have consistently clashed in their individual campaigns against crime since their initial encounter in “Daredevil” #183 from 1982. Instead of joining forces, these two vigilantes have frequently engaged in confrontations, as seen in comic book storylines such as “Punisher vs. Daredevil,” “Shadowland,” “Daredevil/Punisher,” and “Seventh Circle.” This adversarial relationship has been explored extensively in both the comics and various adaptations, including seasons 2 of “Marvel’s Daredevil” and the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again” from Marvel Television.
When Daredevil and the Punisher cross paths in future comic book stories, it won’t be Matt Murdock under Daredevil’s horned mask or Frank Castle donning the Punisher’s skull insignia. Instead, Marvel Comics has given a sneak peek of “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear” #2 (shown below), hinting at a confrontation between Elektra as Daredevil and Joe Garrison as the latest Punisher. An erstwhile S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, Garrison has taken up the role of the Punisher following Castle’s exclusion from the primary Marvel Universe.
From the pages of July’s issue 11 of Saladin Ahmed’s ongoing “Daredevil” comic series, Elektra embarks on a mission in “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear” volume 2. Seeking the whereabouts of Alice, a runaway she had previously saved during Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s tenure, Elektra scours Hell’s Kitchen.
In the upcoming comic book series, “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear” #1 by writer Erica Schultz and artists Michael Dowling and Ivan Fiorelli, Elektra engages in a fierce battle against Crossbones starting July 17th. Subsequently, the Daredevil/Punisher crossover unfolds, with issue #2 debuting on August 17th and continuing with issue #3 on September 25th. Schultz collaborates once more with Dowling and Fiorelli following their work on “Hallow’s Eve.” Take a look at sneak peek pages from the first issue provided below.
