Enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the appearance of Sentry in Thunderbolts now have a chance to preview the character’s outfit via official merchandise. Recently, the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel hosted a special livestream event to unveil updates to their line of Marvel Legends figures. As expected, Hasbro is preparing several Thunderbolts action figures for release, aiming to cash in on the buzz surrounding the film’s premiere. Among these figures is one depicting Sentry, clad in his blue and yellow costume as seen in the movie. The figure includes interchangeable hands for various poses.
Figures modeled after characters from the Thunderbolts comic series, such as Yelena, Red Guardian, and John Walker (also known as U.S. Agent), are part of the Marvel Legends line. These figures will be released in two pairs: Yelena with Red Guardian, and John Walker with Sentry. Pre-orders for these sets can be made in the spring. Here’s a sneak peek at the Sentry figure below:

Previously, merchandise for Thunderbolts has showcased Sentry’s outfit on several occasions. In fact, in March, Sentry was part of the initial lineup for Thunderbolts Funko Pop! figures. However, it’s important to note that this depiction of the character was more stylized due to Funko’s distinctive design style.
The trailers for Thunderbolts haven’t yet fully revealed Sentry’s live-action appearance, but he’s a significant focus in the promotional efforts. A recent ad for the movie showcases that Sentry is stronger than all the Avengers, demonstrating his formidable threat to the main team. As the story unfolds in the MCU, Sentry will continue to play an important role, with Lewis Pullman reprising his character in Avengers: Doomsday scheduled for release next year.
The Marvel Legends action figure showcases a more realistic representation of Sentry compared to the previous Funko Pop!, emphasizing the details of his Thunderbolts costume as portrayed in the comics by Marvel Studios. Although there are minor differences between the comic and film versions, the movie adaptation seems to be an authentic rendition of Sentry’s costume. It’s intriguing that Hasbro is bundling this figure with the latest John Walker action figure, which might suggest a connection between these characters in the upcoming Thunderbolts series. There could be a significant scene where Walker confronts Sentry directly. However, this pairing may not hold any significance; still, Yelena’s link to Red Guardian implies that there’s enough here for fans to speculate theories about future storylines.
As we approach the final stretch before the movie’s release, I can hardly contain my excitement to see if Sentry will finally make a full appearance in the Thunderbolts footage. Given Marvel’s penchant for secrecy, it seems unusual that they’ve been keeping Sentry under wraps in trailers while merchandise proudly displays the character in all his glory. This reveal was orchestrated by one of Marvel’s partners, suggesting that they had Marvel’s approval. It might not be necessary to spotlight Sentry in future trailers given the appealing interactions with established Marvel characters in Thunderbolts, but I wonder if the promotional team has something special up its sleeve over the next few weeks.
