Marvel Revives a Key Thor Villain

As a seasoned Marvel fan with decades of reading under my belt, I must say that the return of Dario Agger in Immortal Thor #15 has truly stirred my excitement! Having followed this character since his inception in Thor: God of Thunder, it’s fascinating to see him reemerge and wreak havoc on Asgard.

Over the years since his debut in Marvel Comics, Thor has amassed a rather unexpected collection of adversaries, hailing from the divine realm and beyond. The current issue of Thor’s ongoing series hints at an intriguing revival of one such villain.

Dr. Lamarr of Roxxon Corporation constructs an impressive device capable of sacrificing humans and reincarnating them – specifically, Dario Agger. Upon resurrection, Agger unveils his intentions to eliminate as numerous deities residing in Asgard as he can.

Who Is Dario Agger?

In various Marvel Comics stories, different versions of the Minotaur have emerged throughout time. However, it was in 2014’s “Thor: God of Thunder” #19 that the character portrayed by Dario Agger was born, a creation of writers Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic. Originally depicted as the head of the powerful energy corporation, Roxxon, Dario entered into a deal with an enigmatic deity, transforming him into the Minotaur. This transformation made him a foe not only to Thor but also to the broader Marvel Universe. He sought to contaminate the world for financial gain and later grew obsessed with acquiring magical relics for personal reasons.

Before his role in “Immortal Thor”, Dario’s last appearance was in the comic series “Immortal Hulk”, penned by Ewing. In this storyline, he was marked as a target by the colossal creature Xemnu. Subsequently, he was swallowed by Xenmu and underwent a drastic physical transformation. This event left him seemingly unable to speak.

What Is Immortal Thor About?

In Norse legends, he was famously known as Thunderer, but also called Vuer and Hloriddi. The Gods recognize him as the King of Asgard, guardian of Mjolnir, and the hero of countless stories. When injustice plagues Earth and ancient forces shake the heavens, he stands up for the powerless – and when the story concludes, we shall understand the price he paid. This is the account of THE ETERNAL THOR.

Ewing wrote, when the series was initially announced, “Placing [Immortal] on my current work is a vow to both my readers and myself. I was the one who proposed the title – not editors or anyone else – and it served as a personal test. Can I create another book like this? Can I excel in my part more than before? I must try, for if I don’t, I risk fading away…I desire to take another swing at that ball, and this time, I don’t just want to send it into the outfield; instead, I aim to hit it beyond the park. I aspire to write something that matches and surpasses the impact of my previous work, offering a comparable experience to those who supported me and the book, but with the wisdom gained from experience.

Immortal Thor #15 is now available wherever comics are sold.
