As a long-time fan of hero shooters and Marvel comic books, I must admit I was initially disappointed when Concord’s beta underperformed. But then came Marvel Rivals‘ closed beta, and my interest was piqued once again! The impressive 52,671 concurrent players on Steam on the first day alone is a testament to the game’s potential.
I’ve noticed that Concord didn’t manage to draw in a large number of players during its recent beta. On the other hand, Marvel Rivals, another upcoming hero shooter, appears to be experiencing more success in attracting players.
NetEase Games’ free-six versus six shooter began its closed beta testing on all platforms Tuesday, and the launch was met with a strong response. According to SteamDB, the game reached a high of 52,671 simultaneous players on Steam during the initial day of the beta. This figure is noteworthy, particularly for a closed beta. If the game manages to attract comparable numbers on consoles, it could indicate a sizable and eager community anticipating its full release.
In the past few weeks, NetEase Games has unveiled a number of trailers showcasing some of the game’s playable characters, such as Spider-Man, Venom, and Adam Warlock.
Marvel Rivals is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
