Marvel Rivals Crosses 10 Million Players in 72 Hours

As a longtime Marvel fan, I’ve seen my fair share of gaming adaptations, some good, some not so much. But when it comes to Marvel Rivals, I must say, NetEase has truly outdone themselves! The sheer variety of characters and game modes have kept me hooked since the launch, and reaching 10 million players in just 72 hours is no small feat!

The video game “Marvel Rivals” by NetEase Games debuted on December 6th and is making a promising beginning. A recent tweet revealed that over 10 million gamers engaged with the game in just its first 72 hours. While its main competitor, “Overwatch 2,” reached 25 million players within 10 days of its launch, it’s clear that “Marvel Rivals” is off to a strong start compared to its counterpart.

Marvel Rivals offers a roster of 33 characters hailing from the Marvel universe such as Magneto, Wolverine, Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Magik, Cloak and Dagger among others. You can engage in combat on eight distinct maps, with game modes like Convergence (similar to King of the Hill), Convoy (Escort), and a hybrid form of Convergence. Additionally, there’s Conquest, which blends elements of Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed for an exciting experience.

Although we’re right now in the midst of Season 0: Dooms’ Rise, the first season of Marvel Rivals is set to debut in January 2025. NetEase has yet to reveal specifics about the content, but they assure us that future maps, game modes, and characters will be accessible for free. For more information on how this game will be monetized, check out the details here. Keep an eye out for more updates in the coming days.

🎉 In just 72 hours, we’ve reached an incredible milestone of 10 million players worldwide! 🎉

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. 🫶

Let’s ignite the battle together! 💖#MarvelRivals
