NetEase, the creators of Marvel Rivals, have issued an apology for inadvertently banning players who were falsely accused of cheating. This mistake has now been rectified, and the team emphasizes that their focus continues to be on identifying and dealing with genuine cheaters in the game.
On Discord, NetEase acknowledged the recent issue (thanks, IGN) and reassured gamers that they won’t penalize players who are playing honestly and without any form of unauthorized aid. Since it shares a player base with PS5 and Xbox platforms, the bans were primarily targeted at PC users who utilize a compatibility layer. Although our technical knowledge is limited, according to Wikipedia, this might be due to reasons beyond simple cheating or emulation of hardware.
It seems that the number of people using cheats in Marvel Rivals is increasing, and NetEase has stated they will enhance their anti-cheat measures for now. In the meantime, it’s up to players to report any suspected cheaters. Recently, some players have discovered they were being matched with bots after losing streaks, which appears to be a quick way to deliver dopamine, a feature that was not disclosed before the game’s release by the developers.
