As a long-time Marvel fan and avid gamer, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Jeff the Landshark and Thor were joining the Marvel Rivals closed beta test. Having grown up reading the comics and watching the movies, seeing these iconic characters come to life in a new game was an absolute thrill.
Jeff the Landshark and Thor have been revealed as the newest characters set to join the Marvel Rivals closed beta trial following an early leak.
In the latest movie trailer, it was unveiled that there will be not just one, but two entities of Doom appearing.
We’re facing a dilemma with the abundance of Marvel Rivals characters currently available – it might be challenging to experiment with each one before the beta phase concludes.
As a film enthusiast, I’d put it this way: If you haven’t made it into the closed beta test yet, I can understand if you’re feeling less than thrilled. But don’t lose hope just yet! There are alternative ways to score a coveted beta access code. Keep an eye out for Twitch Drops – you might be lucky enough to snag one by watching select streams. Good luck and happy gaming!
Perhaps the exclusivity is adding to the game’s allure, as shown by SteamDB with a peak of 52,671 players in the closed beta. With even more players expected on consoles, it’s clear that this game is creating quite a buzz.
But not matter, we are here for good ol’ Jeff and Thor, Let’s get to it!
Marvel Rivals adds Jeff and Thor
On Saturday, 27th July, Jeff the Landshark and Thor will join Marvel Rivals during the beta phase.
At the 2024 Comic-Con in San Diego, my excitement reached new heights when I learned that Jeff and I would be graced with some major announcements. The crowd and I were in for a treat as we were handed Jeff merchandise to cherish.
Shout out to Danny Koo & the whole Rivals team.. incredible people. 🫡👏

If the rumors are true, even more intriguing characters will be added to the existing large cast.
Who is Jeff in Marvel Rivals?
Jeff, a four-leged shark fabricated by MODOK, became one after suffering defeat at the hands of the West Coast Avengers. Later on, he ended up being cared for by Gwenpool.
As a conscious comic book character, I found myself disappointed when project after project featuring me, Gwen, got canceled. But instead of dwelling on it, I decided to pass Jeff along to the mercenary Deadpool, hoping that he would bring some excitement to the pages.
Jeff is like a formidable shark with an abundance of teeth, ready to bite down competitors in Marvel Rivals. However, it remains undecided what specific skills or role he will possess within the game. Nonetheless, we can assume that his teeth will come into play in some capacity.
Who is Thor in Marvel Rivals?
In simpler terms, Thor is known as the God of Thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although he didn’t receive a separate trailer, he made an appearance in the “No One Rivals Doom” cinematic preview we provided, which you can find above. You can spot Thor starting at the 52-second mark.
The mighty Thor, modeled after the ancient Norse deity, possesses an incredibly potent hammer that is uniquely his to wield.
In the preview, Thor raises his hammer and gets ready to unleash a powerful thunderstorm strike. However, it’s uncertain if this is representative of his skills in the game yet.
Based on Thor’s tall figure and strong personality, it’s likely that he will take on the role of a tank in Marvel Rivals, similar to the Vanguard class.
