As a seasoned Marvel comics enthusiast with a knack for high-octane gaming action, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of Moon Knight joining the roster of Marvel Rivals! Having delved deep into the complex and enigmatic life of Marc Spector, I’ve always been captivated by his dual identity as both a troubled mercenary and the Fist of Khonshu.
Following a slightly obvious hint at the conclusion of the latest Marvel Rivals trailer, NetEase Games has officially announced Moon Knight as part of the roster. As the Champion of Khonshu, this fighter is equipped with the ability to glide and hurl projectiles that bounce off opponents. Here’s his gameplay debut for you to watch!
In simpler terms, Moon Knight’s true persona is Marc Spector, a transformed ex-mercenary who derives his abilities from Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian deity of the moon. Unlike how he’s depicted in comics with a more fabric-oriented costume, Moon Knight’s attire in this version leans towards technology. When engaged in battle, a massive portal appears, which is essentially Khonshu’s arms descending upon opponents and causing damage over a wide area.
It remains a mystery as to how Spector and Khonshu found themselves caught up in the interdimensional feud of Marvel Rivals. The wait continues until the launch of this free-to-play hero shooter, scheduled for December 6th. Keep an eye out for more updates between now and then.
Marvel Rivals is set to release on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. At the game’s launch, as well as moving forward, players won’t have to pay for any of the characters.
