As a devoted Star Wars fan with years of immersion into this expansive galaxy far, far away, I am beyond thrilled to hear that Marvel Comics is delving deeper into the untold stories between the iconic films, “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.” The upcoming miniseries, “Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku — Insurgency Rising,” promises to shed light on a pivotal battle that has remained shrouded in mystery since its brief mention in “The Force Awakens.”
Star Wars comic timeline currently lies between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.” With those stories coming to an end, Marvel Comics has announced new titles set in the gap between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.” The upcoming miniseries, “Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku – Insurgency Rising,” explores a significant battle following the Galactic Empire’s fall. This conflict has been largely unexplored since it was hinted at in the 2015 film. Issue one of this four-issue series will be available on October 2nd.
In a statement, writer Alex Segura expressed his great pleasure and privilege to work on the “Battle of Jakku” limited series alongside talented artists, sharing the untold history of Star Wars. The narrative will be vast in scope, featuring beloved characters and introducing fresh elements to the galaxy’s lore. Readers will witness the climactic battle of the Galactic Civil War and its aftermath, as well as a new ominous force emerging to challenge our heroes. Our team aims to amplify the excitement and create an adventure that matches the iconic stories of the era as the Empire disintegrates and darkness emerges.
